New IWC Ingenieur models

IWC just previewed their new 40mm Ingenieur models! Wow. I loved the 3227 42mm but this smaller & thinner version surpasses it IMHO.

I'm really happy to see that IWC is pulling back from their "all in" on 45mm+ watches. I don't like the looks of this watch as much as the old 3227, or 3228, due to the crown guards (which I don't think are very "correct" for an IWC). However, it is nice to know that IWC now sells a watch sized appropriately for someone like me, with a less than 7 inch wrist.

On edit: I just read on TZ.com that this watch is using an ETA movement. Too bad. I guess that 3228 is still in my future.

Very nice looking, I really like the size as well. Dinner plate size watches are not for me.

Very cool. Not sure on the crown guards in pics though. Don't think Mr.Genta would approve :-p
I still think the 322701 is pure Ingy perfection.
Looking forward to seeing this one in the metal.

The silver/white one is pretty awesome, and with the ETA-based movement I assume the price should be reasonable (hopefully around $5K). Adding to the list...

I've got no problem with an ETA-sourced movement if it keeps the price down (this "in-house or nothing!" nonsense is getting out of hand). No, my only two issues lie with the crown guards and the smooth dial -- the Ingy isn't a diver and the older I-patterned textured dial were/are mesmerizing.

The 3227-01 still reigns supreme, IMO, but these new models definitely bear closer inspection.

Regards,
Adam

I for one am really looking forward to this new model. The older one was cool on paper but too heavy and unruly on the wrist.

Lastly, a real ingineer would always put function over form, the older models, including Big Ingeniurs, surely wasn't that. The new once comes closer.

Reminds me of AP Royal Oak. I guess both are Genta designs.

I had the 3227 and just loved it.

But the whole time I knew it was just too big on my wrist....and sold it. I do miss it....but this new one will hopefully be a good alternate.

I'm liking the new Ingenieur models at SIHH! Granted they're big but the modern Ingenieur line has always been big.
