my tag

I have seen alt of tag bashing so here is the history of my watch... It has never given me an issue and has Survived years of punishment.

My tag that I have had since 1994 has been involved in the following and has only been opened three times to have the battery replaced...
Here goes..

Diving in Mexico, grand cayman, etc....
Rugged camping on deserted islands
Gone fishing in tournaments and covered in fish guts and blood(fresh and saltwater)
Fallen with me off a boat as I was tarpon fishing
Played in paintball tournaments including the world cup and has been shot directly with a paintball gun
played in Many airsoft battles and has been shots with plastic bbs at velocities over 400 feet per second
has been dunked in hundreds of aquariums where I clean my tanks
Been covered in mud during numerous adventures in the everglades as part of graduate school projects
Been on a transatlantic crossing (ok I cheated as it was on the queen mary2)
Has been bashed during several moves across from going off to college through out my life including my latest across he country to California
Has withstood thousands of shotgun and pistol blasts throuh various competitions
Survived countless snow covered hunting days
And many other pleasant occasions including my wedding

So if someone says ....tags will give you nothing but problems... You can assure that it didn't come from me..

It sounds like your watch has taken quite a few lickings and keeps on ticking. Enjoy it and wear it in good health.

quite agree with the OP and had my F1 since 1990. Never a problem, and much abused.

I was able top get it from him and now here are a couple of pictures....

another angle... I think you can see some of the beating this watch has taken

Here it is at rest with my alma mater, I know we have a couple of others on the forum!.... The future rolex is sitting behind it (it will be a datejust II smooth bezel with stick dial)

That's one of the most classic pieces that Tag made!

Nice piece with all the history you have with it!

Well, this IS a Rolex Forum so one can imagine where most of the members' preferences are directed.

Having said that, I think most of the feelings on this board toward TAG are just that...preferences. Over on WUS, there is a TAG section where the TAG lovers hang out and you will hear nothing but praise for their TAGs. The fact is, most of the watch people here PREFER mechanical watches, which TAG, does make. I think most of the members here may have had a TAG or 2 when they started collecting (I myself had 2 Quartz TAGs before I got my Rolex and subsequently bought a Monaco). There is a lot of love here for vintage Heuer Monacos.

FWIW, TAGs aren't bad watches, in fact, some of them are quite nice. But if you see what most of the members here are sporting, they are entry level, a gateway watch, if you will. Once we start learning more about the fine art of Horology, TAG becomes a nice watch with some cool design features but none of the finer points when it comes to watchmaking.

Here is mine. It's the first watch I ever bought with my own money. Sent it back to Tag for restoration. Although its a quartz watch, it's still probably my favorite.

Very well said my friend. Which quartz TAGs did you have? I love the TAG forum on WUS, I joined there because I can relate with reasoning.

Tags do make some very nice watches..... And no doubt they are tough.
The grand Carrera and the micro timer are very nice indeed.

Beautiful piece! Looks great!!

Here's my 1991 S/EL in the snow.
The first watch I bought after finishing school was a SS Kirium Quartz. I liked it so much that I wanted one with a black rubber strap and chronograph feature so I bought a Kirium Formula One with the Rubber Strap. After my Rolex and my Breitling purchases, I picked up a Blue Monaco, non Chrono with the blue Gator Strap because I wanted a square cased watch. I still have the F1 but I gave the Kirium Quartz with the SS bracelet to my brother because I never wore it once I got my Sub.
