Patience and the non-quickset movement...

Went to grab one of my vintage pieces this morning, and noticed the date was off by one - unfortunately one day ahead. I hate when that happens!

When it does, rather than wear it with the date wrong (which will drive me crazy all day) , or roll it all the way 'round a whole month to the proper date (), I just leave it in the case and will put it on tomorrow, when the date is correct.

Love the vintage watches, but my patience tolerance for resetting the date is around 7 or 6 days forward.

What's your method?

I do the same, I leave them until the date coincides with the watch!

never fun when it happens and i hate having to wind 30 days to get the correct date.

i keep some of my vintage pieces in a winder.

it's better for them than assaulting them with 10 mins of non stop and aggressive winding

Funny timing. The exact thing happened to me on Saturday. I just left it one day ahead. Over the weekend I'm not usually looking at the date function but the few times I did like to write a check I was amazed that I remembered and subtracted one. I hope this wont be a new method as I like to put it back until its closer. Sometimes it's right on which is cool when that happens.

Exactly! This is why non-quickset date watches have priority in my winder.

Same with my 1970 Tudor Jumbo Date + Day that I'm wearing today. I tend to set it once a week so it's not too far off that I have to go around the whole month.
Part of the vintage charm but it sure makes modern quick-sets look like progress.

There is absolutely no problem with turning it backwards. You will not break anything. I do it all the time without any issues.

my mid 50s tissot visodate (which i happen to be wearing today)is non quickset so if the date is off I just turn it forward all the way to the correct date.

I don't have a problem with it . . .

Didn't wear my DD for almost a month . . so I got some adjusting to do next time . . .

But I love it . . . makes me spend even more time with my watch . . . .

Its always good to have a Sub ND in the collection, just in case you are hungover or otherwise running late.

Thanks JohnBoy - that's what I REALLY was looking for - an enabler and reason to buy another Rolex!

I do not mind winding it for a few minutes, each time I do that I just stare at the watch and always tell myself "what a beauty!".
What should be a pain in the *** turns into a very nice moment of intimity with my watch.

I wear my 1675 when the date is right. That way I end up wearing it two days in a row every month regardless of the day of the week. I too hate advancing the date buy a month. Off subject a little but that one more reason I really like not having a date on the Daytona. Set the time and go.

Funny but I was just thinking about that when wearing my 1680 Red today.
I set the time of day carefully but I never set the date and I couldn't care less what it says.
I suppose I have never grown to rely upon the date function on my watches and the the fact that it may be "off" doesn't bother me.
If the time is off however, it drives me bonkers!

To each, his own.

Sorry about that - just trying to ease that frustration, but maybe I added to it. Patience...patience.....

Same here. I make a point of wearing mine once a week, so I don't have so much "catching up" to do each time.

Here's an answer, taken today, felt like swapping from my SD. Just a scuff on the cyclops, need to order some polywatch.
