Great technique, I also tape my case knife to avoid scratches on the underside of the bezel ring.

Interesting,
Perhaps one of the reasons Rolex are so expensive (but a good thing), each watch is truly different...the 14060 is not just a 16610 with a different dial and no date, it is a completely different, non interchangeable watch... |

using the handle of my jeweler's pliers (rubber coated) to run along that last part of the insert is a life saver.

Interested in knowing the ID and OD of the GMT 6542 and whether there was a difference between the bakelite versions and the middle-year metal insert? Also, are they the same size as the Sub 6538?
Great post by the way. Going home tonight to try FINALLY try to replace my bezel. Thanks! |

Hi guys,
My old man's snowflake has been hidden away in a shoebox, without a bezel for about 15 years and he's finally decided I can have it if I get the missing parts and looking good again. Anybody know where I can find a blue bezel? I need all the bits! I've had a look at Jocke's tutorial and I don't seem to have a hole for the spring - am I meant to?? Is it because mine is bi-directional?? Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks, George P.s. would also love to get a box and the anchor at some stage - where can I get these from?? Can anyone tell I'm addicted to this watch? |

Successfully changed the Pepsi insert to the coke.
Followed Jocke's instructions and it was easy. The only thing I didn't like was the glue residue the masking tape left over, I'll be using a thin piece of cloth instead in future.

I have an 1987 model (97xxxxx) and it to doesn't have the spring/detent mechanism. Snapping it off is similar though I never worried about scratching the case. This guy has been a workhorse.

I have found that just taping the knife works perfectly with no worries of marking the watch and residue not an issue.

everytime I've seen the photos, I wish Jocke had cleaned the case before putting the bezel back on. A few seconds with a qtip and it'd be spotless.

So as asked above... Will this process work with the datejust 16220 R? I would like to put the original bezel back on myself if possible.
Thanks! |

The datejust is a press-fit to the case, and is paramount to the integrity of the waterproof design of the case....totaly different to the GMT/Sub.

Is it possible to change a sub bezel to the black and blue GMT II bezel? The diameters are different I believe.

Will it damage the watch at all repeatedly swapping bezel inserts?

Yeah, that's what I'm trying to figure out. Not much feedback on it from anyone. Thanks.

the other thing i do is to turn the bezel to a random position first , so its not always the same part of the bezel that gets the leverage ,,,, great pics jocke ,,
