Love the watch. My biggest candidate, despite having a similar look the the ND sub I already own.

My Explorer 1 39mm is the perfect size Rolex. Can be worn at any time anywhere with no prob.
I have heard of people with some other Rolex, even the Explorer 11, reluctant to wear in the summer in some places with short sleeves! My apologies for the quality of the pics! |

I have both the new explorer 1 and a 2007 GMT watch. They are a great combination as you suggest.

This is my one and only watch. It is, as they say, darn near perfect.
Here is my deal: If it had a 4pm date like an overseas, it WOULD be perfect. The only thing that EVER gets me is no date, but other than that - this is the only modern Rolex I could consider. The new EXP 2 is a close second, but the fat hands and orange hand make me afraid it's a clown watch. - No offense to anyone who owns one - I may end up with one too. |

I am late to this thread, but I concur with many here - this may be the most versatile model in the Rolex line. Clean lines, simple dial, suitable for almost any occasion, and durable. Now with the new clasp on the upgraded oyster bracelet, fantastic. Have had mine about two months, it gets the most wrist time by far. Can't understand why it is not more popular but, hey, I like the relative exclusivity. To all, enjoy !

I really like this watch. Simple, classic. Doesn't hurt that it's not that expensive. At least compared to other Rolexes.

Chaps
I have just recently purchased a brand new Explorer1 because it does not scream ROLEX and also because it is a watch that you can wear for every occasion. I have been wearing it 24/7 for just under a month and not one person has noticed it. That is just how I like it. I have a gold JLC which I keep for the "posh" functions, so with these two watches I do not really need any others. However, having said that, I sort of fancy a no date Sub Mariner as they also have a cool and understated look but it would be a waste of money as it the deepest it will ever go is when I am doing the washing up Regards Mick. |

Congrats on a great choice!!! It's attributes are like my Airking, subtle, understated, and a very easy to wear. Can be worn with jeans, and also in all but the most dressy occasions. A great all around watch.

Rolex Explorer I Review
Just discovered this thread. Have had my Explorer since 1964. I had a Glycene Airman (24 hour face) great pick up watch. Girls couldn't figure out what time the watch was showing. Well, was in the bar at the DaNang "O" club & a Marine pilot just had to have the watch. Sold it to him for $100. Next R&R to Hong Kong saw the just released Explorer & the rest is history. All the other pilots had the GMT's but I remember a young lady saying..."big watch, little dick". It's been my every day wearer all these years. Been to the doctors twice. Every thing that's been said is so true for the watch. My grandaughter wants it! says Granmaws gold Rolex is too much. She is only 8, wait a few years she will want them both.

Very nice, I'm looking to pull the trigger on one myself. I wear a deep sea everyday lately. I tried on the explorer at the AD and you are right, wears very nice. It was going to be either an explorer or a datejust II 116334 with blue index dial. I'm thinking the explorer now. Enjoy the watch!

Every time I look at my 39mm Explorer, I pause to marvel at it's beauty. Perhaps I should get out more
