I know what you mean. Shoes have become a hobby, like watches. This thread exposed me to possibilities that I didn't know were out there. If you're someone who usually buys the best quality you can afford, you can spend a lot of money on dress shoes.

I managed to buy the barely used Chapels from the Gent in Dubai. They were 2000 AED (about $560). It was a struggle keeping the trees, but he eventually acquiesced and agreed that they come with the shoes (Ramadan generosity I think).

Fit is perfect. Great shoes in almost pristine condition.

The BBC just aired this new documentary about John Lobb last night, it's all in their St James workshop where the bespokes are made (the off the shelfs are from Northampton).

Start for basic shoes at about £4500, takes about six months the first time, less after that as they then have your last ready.

I was in the Northampton factory shop a few weeks ago and really can't get anything I wanted to fit me now - my feet are mangled after years of abuse and breaks plus continued 50-60 miles a week pounding the streets.

Seeing this docu has given me the final push to go bespoke I think. I nearly did about 10 years ago when contacts I had would have meant a hefty discount (and they started from about £2k then!). Probably for the best I didn't then as my feet have changed a lot since so even my own bespokes probably wouldn't have fit me anymore now

I would love to experience just how comfortable they are to wear. It must be incredible but unfortunately far too rich for my blood! Maybe some day.

Here's what 10 minutes of work produced. Not bad. :)

Edit: Not sure what's going on, but the resolution of my attachment is really lousy. You guys get the idea, though.

Good afternoon. Really enjoy this thread. I do not dress up as much as I use to, so more "business casual" these days. Looking at adding a pair of navy blue loafers and belt to the wardrobe. I have a couple pairs of navy boat shoes with white soles. Looking for a leather sole model.

Have not found many options out there for a loafer in blue. Rancourt is at the top of the my list. I have some Polo loafers and boat shoes that were made by Rancourt so some experience with their products. I like both the beefroll in chromexel and the pinch in shell.

Only other decent blue or navy blue example I have found is the Bass Weejun.

Any other options or suggestions?

It would probably help if we knew what you budget was.

Budget is important. You could have shoes made to order, but the price would be four digits. Some examples of good quality shoes:

Personally I can't even remember seeing any loafers from Vass. But I would be very surprised if they didn't make loafers, and since most of their shoes are made to order I would surely think something in blue would be very easy to get.

1k budget for shoes and belt; although I would go higher if something really grabs my attention.
These will be worn mostly with cotton khakis and button downs or short sleeve polo shirts. I wear mostly Polo clothes and only wear suits a few times a month.
The EG are beautiful but probably too "dressy" for this look.
The Alden is tempting. I have a pair in color 8 but even these might be a touch dressy. Somehow I missed these in my search.
I am somewhat in between on this one. Want something dressier than a white soled boat shoe but not too dressy...if that makes sense.
I will grind on the Alden a little. I really like the EG but probably a little too much for a shoe I would not wear all that often.

If you like your Alden's, and more importantly they fit well, I would lean in that direction.
