Was it polished? If so, they probably don't make sure they re-brush the back the same way it was before.

Not sure I understand... my crown always screws down into the exact same position.. offset slightly, but the same every time. Unless they replaced the case I'd expect the caseback to screw down into the same position.. +/- a few degrees to account for a different gasket and torque applied.

C'mon guys...grain angle is some serious $h!t to deal with. It directly effects the angle at which your arm hair lays. If the grain angle is changed, it can cause the arm hairs to bend back, thus breaking at the follicle...and becoming ingrown!!!

Rolex standard is the grain angle +-15 degree from the crown, if not you have to change backcase to be safe.

I feel the same way. Obviously i would be concerned if the brushed grain was not matched with the case maybe meaning it wasn't screwed on all the way. Does the receipt say pressure tested?

If so than you should be fine. You can always go swimming and see what happens.

There's no grain on the Titanium caseback on either of my DSSD"s.

Should I be worried about the water resistance of my watches due to insufficient torque on the caseback exerting enough crush on the seal?

It's all food for thought isn't it.
Maybe I need to relax a bit more, and simply trust that Rolex know a thing or two about how to engineer and put a water proof watch together as well as service it, then go and back it up with a full two year International Service Warranty

Yes it is.
But only up to a point.

Assuming the metal parts(Mid-case and Caseback) are the originals.

Here are a few possible variables that come to mind.
1, The density of the new seal may be different, thereby the correct torque on the Caseback could theoretically be achieved with different orientation of the Caseback.
2, The seal may also be of slightly different sectional diameter.
3, There may be more or less lubrication on the recent seal and or thread interface from the original assembly, thereby facilitating a different orientation of the Caseback.
4, Or the Caseback may have needed to be refinished due to visible damage, and as part of the service process it got a tidy up with the grain going in a different direction.
5, The Caseback has been replaced out of good will, and is not the original.

All good info for a reasonable question imho.

The OP simply noticed a difference in his watch and was asking if it could indicate The integrity might be of concern, I did not read it as simply being bothered that the grain was different.

1st thing that popped in my head was the possibility of unintentional cross threading, this has happened before and it would be better to ask?

Seems like a reasonable question to me also, not sure why so many people have to post negative things poking fun at the guy.

As long as your crown lines up vertically all is well.

How do you spell 'neurosis'? Go through life worrying about stuff like this and you'll end up with permanent anxiety. I mean....really.
Just enjoy the watch, stop worrying.

Actually when I first saw the start of the thread by the OP, my initial thought was that it was a troll post.

Then I saw the OP only has a few posts to their credit and assumed it was simply a question born out of inexperience.
