The welding is not expensive IMO and is just like any other welding but in the case of Rolex repairs the material needs to be matched as close as possible.
The watch would need to be stipped down to allow the damaged part to be welded, re-faced, polished and re-assembled. Each repair would need to be assessed and costed. Give Dalton a call if you need this type of work done.

What about the missing parts? Can it laser welded? |

Looks nice, but I don't think any discerning buyer might think they are NOS and that claim wasn't made. I know no-one has said it was, but the obvious fear is the progression that this may develop into a scary scenario where items are passed off as newer than they really are. I agree it's good if you badly dent your case and want it repaired. I like a few light battle scars on my vintage, but something deep would bother me.
In the top example above - the case sides and bevels on the edges look better, but the crown guards don't look 'restored' to me. They still look polished and soft, so to me they have been overlooked. Nice work though. |

I would do this for case corrosion rendering a failed preaaure test. Apart from this, I like the door dings on my vintage watches. H

I really admire the welding work, really nice to know an old beat up/damaged case could be brought back to life.

It would be interesting to know the price ratio between making an old watch look new and making a new watch look old (both avenues are taken by unscrupulous vintage vendors).

ive seen the laser welding on u tube ,,, love to see the tig set up ,,, if anyone has a picture ,, i can weld coke cans together ,,, but still wouldnt go near a watch case ,,, but id like to see someone who can ,,, also used to work in ndt , the clues will be there if you know what to look for .. but for the average buyer ,,, its another can of worms.
