Problem with my new (used) Rolex DD

My new-to-me 18038 is not centering the day when it advances at midnight. If I manually advance the day, it snaps into place and centers perfectly.

How big of an issue is this? I can still return it. I need some input, please.

Problem with my new (used) Rolex

In my not very technical knowledge of the workings, I don’t know what it could be. For me, I’d get it to a good trusted watchmaker for a service and check out!

you can try cycling thru thr day wheels to see if it resets otherwise it will need to be looked at

FWIW I have seen this issue on DD2 and it becomes increasingly prevalent on older DD's like 1803

I sometimes had to tap mine with a knuckle to centre it. Common problem, even on newer ones. Yours is very missaligned though. Best to service Imo.

Something inside is either to weak or too strong or not properly lubricated maybe.

Frankly the question is how new is it? If you just received it then maybe ask the seller to either repair or allow you to return it. Otherwise you're stuck with repair costs!!!

Usually dry lube. Obviously the mechanics work but it is an indication a service might be required.

When was its last service? Sounds like a trip to RSC is in order.

Return it, unless they will do a full service for free.

Let me echo, not a major problem but a major bummer. A service would correct it...maybe you can get the seller with cover the costs.

At least make seller liable for the fix.
