You will need a new dial as they can't relume. If you haven't sent it in for service, I would recommend that. Its over due. Contact a local Rolex AD and they will take care of sending it in. Or google Rolex service Center and they will give you instruction on how to send it in yourself. I recommend sending it in yourself, but some are more comfortable with having the dealer do it if its their fist time.
I would recommend a Rolex Service Center over a independent watch maker, especially if you want a new dial. It will come back looking and working like new. A general refreshing runs about $800. Expect to pay $500-800 for a new dial, plus more for anything else Rolex need to replace, which is likely for watch that old.

Although I do not have a personal opinion, it seems the general consensus here is use the Dallas Rolex Service Center, not NYC.

I do and agree, use Dallas. NYC was very difficult. I purchased a pre-owned BLNR and was in need of warranty service. NYC insisted I needed the original receipt. Dallas said records/serial # will show if its under warranty and no need for concern or original receipt. So yes Dallas was a pleasure to work with.

Agree about using Dallas and NOT NYC.

Personal reasons not mentioned here.
