$20k and under used Pateks
I decided to sell only my 5035J, which I anticipate will net me about $18-19kk given the current market and I want to replace it with another Patek in the $20k range or under. I already have a 5296G Calatrava so I don’t want another Calatrava. What are some good Pateks I should look at in the $20k and under range? From what I can find, the only option for a Patek with complications is the travel time 5034, 5015, and 5055. What else is there I should consider?

Uh, oh... some good Pateks for up to $20k but no Calatrava?
There you go, some more Pateks in that price range, depending on what you like more good or less good ... - 5167A Aquanaut from the AD if you are ready to wait some... and then some... - Midsize steel gold 3800 Nautilus or quarz 5064 and automatic 5066 Aquanauts - 5110J Worldtime if you are ready to add a few grand... No offense intended, but trying to replace one Patek w another Patek in the same limited price range w/o lusting for a specific piece appears a little strange. How does it fit into your Cartier/Gondolo thread from 1 or 2 days ago? Why not just sell the 5035J and take your time until you find sth you really love? |

I’d shoot for a 5167 at retail. Not an easy task but a darn nice Patek for under 20k

The 5035 is a piece that I believe has a ton of upside potential. One actually recently sold at auction a few weeks ago at Sotheby's for $32,000 and Govberg has one listed up for $23,500 without B&P.
That watch is probably the best bang per buck Patek you can get at that price range so I think you'll have a hard time replacing it for something of equal quality without putting in some extra coin. |

Would keep the 5035. Had the rg version when they were first released and, yeah, the date numbers don't line up all the time but it is what it is. 5110 might be the next choice, though there are A LOT of great vintage Calatrava Pateks in the 33 to 38mm range for under $20k. If you have to sell the 5035, go vintage for sure. The hand craftsmanship is far better with those earlier pieces too imho.

With that budget, I'd keep what you have.

100% agree the 5035 is a keeper, plus Patek made so many variants of the 5110 WT it's almost become a cliché of itself

Did $15k to your 5035 and get a platinum datograph. No dealer would refuse that offer.
Edit: actually start at $10k. It’s a Dato after all.

You could consider selling 5035J & 5296G for a vintage calatrava and 5110j
Do you really wear the Calatrava that much? |
