Because people are starting to get scared.

There’s downward price movement but we haven’t even really started, my opinion. Said it before, say it again, I think everything settles back to MSRP aside from steel Daytona and more unicorn pieces like meteorite, maybe even yellow gold/green dial Daytona.

Haha right?!

I completely get it when a grey offers you ~20% less than their asks on site. Need overhead, profit, etc etc etc. Just nature of business.

But some of these greys are offering less than HALF of what they currently have the watches listed at. That’s absurd.

And I’ve never one time bashed greys on TRF like other people, I completely understand their role and have even dealt with them before. It’s just silly right now though, idk how long they’ll hold out, maybe they have massive cash on reserve, but at some point they’ll have to face the music.

Takuya has a 4500v blue for like $58k. MODA has one at $33k. A SIXTY PERCENT premium

It's interesting to hear these stories regarding tracking particular references on chrono.

I've learnt from this forum that the grey market can exist in two modes, that is, when the aftermarket is above AD price and, when it is below.

What happens if parity is reached with AD pricing? Is this even possible given that AD waitlists would clear, or is there a price delta that must be jumped transiently from above to below?

My guess, and I’m not an economist, would be that AD lists would temporarily clear while willing buyers snap up gray inventory, and give a slight bump in pricing and demand spikes. Once that inventory is gone and those buyers exit the market, the gray prices fall and AD lists see a slight bump as new buyers enter the market while ADs have a bit more inventory.

Yup. I'm not even looking to buy, but peruse some gray sites and some of their prices seem to be "old" prices, like $200k platinum Daytonas, and then they'll have a new platinum Daytona listing for a similar watch, for like $120k. It's almost like they forgot to adjust all their old ad prices that have been sitting there since things were booming.

I also saw a new 4500v on Moda. I thought the one I saw was maybe $35k, but either way it's a long way from mid 50s.

A lot of these guys are potentially in big trouble and this is a sign of it.

The spread at which they worked at was pretty slim while things were hot and moving on up.

Now the bid ask has blown right past their entry points and they can't lower their price without losing a significant amount of money.

In the past DavidSWs prices were very accurate and typically pretty reliably market. What does it tell you when the disconnect has become this bad and they refuse to buy new inventory at any price?

The smartest of the Grey's stopped buying and is doing whatever they can to liquidate. Their little price fixing cartel is now facing reality and the first mover will get the least hurt.

Hope is not a strategy.

I have noticed DavidSW usually has one hot model that’s closer to market price and other multiples at a “big grey” inflated prices. That’s a great strategy just in case there are any buyers who disregard the price due to being very well heeled or having a unique interest in the watch due to its year (birthyear or anniversary). I would bet the big greys are more open to reasonable offers on their aggressively priced models.

ROs (15450/15500/15550) all tanking and they’re not even moving. Same story with the chronos (26331s). Anyone who thinks this is the bottom is delusional.

The jeweler featured on Producer Michael is starting to liquidate some of his inventory and making it sound like a One Time Only Deal:

I'm also personally interested in seeing how far down PP 3800s fall.

Before this whole craziness, you could get the YG 3800 for around $30k all day long.

Claimed 'BNIB' AP 26420 Taupe listed on C24 at 20% over MSRP.

Hoping I'll be able to get this from AP directly sometime soon... I guess the breakeven for a flipper is around 5% or 10%, given tax?

Getting close to unflippable...

There's a factory barked Rolex DD with factory wood dial in excellent condition that's also been sitting around for several days at $27k.

I’ll love for RO to get back to $20k new and ROC to get back to mid 25’s new. I’ll pick one up for that, was waiting forever for AP to go in house with their chronos which didn’t happen until 2021. I’m a fan of the removed AP logo and 5 o clock date, some guys hate but I like it.
