I can't believe Colombia did that! Red card for sure.

It's really unfortunate though, I think it was just such a quick attack, first match jitters........player had a complete collapse in logic. Hell, it's better to let them have that goal and keep all 11 when it's only the first minutes of the game.....no way he's dumb enough to do that intentionally.

Man, this is awful for Colombia.

I would not like to be in that Colombian player's shoes. Colombian Andres Escobar scored an own goal in the 1994 WC and was reportedly murdered for it when he got home.

I remember that, and Alan Hansen's flippant comments about it that were seemingly taken literally.

This Columbia match will have an interesting second half. Columbia aren’t even playing as if they are 1 man down!

If Columbia plays with some brain - they should still make it out. They have talent - but little discipline. Haven't understood either how James didn't start and why Cuadrado was the one taken off.

I know, so hard I forgot Royal Ascot started today, had to quickly scramble to put some bets on despite not really knowing any form. Had one winner at least.

Haha I was under the same impression. Poor effort overall by Poland, and surprisingly good by Senegal. Fun times

Unbelievable match between Poland and Senegal. Was Lewandowski even on the pitch?!

What a day so far!

Juan Quintero is just as talented, if not more talented than James. Problem is exactly what you said, very little discipline.

Pékerman couldn't risk a James injury this early. I'm cool with the decision of not starting him but taking Cuadrado out made the entire squad fall apart.

I don't blame Sanchez for that hand ball. It was such an involuntary reaction that you can't even fault the man but it did cost us tremendously.

Props to Japan - No matter how tough they have it they remain composed.

Great second half in this Russia game.
Everyone saying how rubbish the Russian team was before the WC and now looking like the first to get through a group.

My friend has lost so much money already, he said he's done betting the entire WC at this point. and we're only through 1/3 the group stage

I stopped betting a few years ago. Lost a decent amount for me at that time. But more importantly lost too much time and effort

Yes - very impressive. Easy group, but still, congrats to them! They'll be more confident and should put on a good show moving forward
