Short term gain for Omega, but I fear a devastating devaluation of the brand. Sure, I have a $100 G-Shock, but its a Casio, not an Omega.

ha ha this is so funny i can now buy a watch that looks like a speed master but not for £5k. It’s like being a fake rolex but one which rolex has said ok too.

You might want to call that location, I don't think they are getting any based on the website. Could be wrong though!

The swatch websites lists them as one of the 8 US stores you can get them.

That's a big miss of these things can't handle water. These would be great summer/pool/beach watches. That's a shame. I'll keep on beaching with my G-Shock I guess.

Agreed. They could have added a better amount of water resistance, charged double or triple the price and these watches would still be a massive success (at least in the short term).

I'm sure there are also people bidding over and over with no intention of paying to screw over the greedy seller.
This.

Seriously... As if the speedy was unobtainium

Omega is trolling everyone pretty hard with this release. I know Mr Heyek Jr. is sitting in this thread with a bowl of popcorn and a smirk on his face as we speak.

Great release Nick! Hope theres plenty for everyone so the flippers and snobs both get burned.

Hopefully this is a message by Omega that they want your business, the watches are available, and accessable to all types of people. A direct attack on the crown? Shots fired?

Psst- A lot of you guys forgot Tudors used to have Rolex markings and were accessible. Didn't seem to dilute anything.

For those Speedmaster owners... how you going to feel when people say 'nice Swatch' probably the same as Rolex owners who keep getting asked 'is it a fake"

Nope, I'm now considering JLC, at least they maintain their brand integrity and I can still get a 20% discount.
Not one of my watches was purchased with the intent to impress or catch someone else's attention. I guess we all have our reasons....Hopefully you'll get all the attention you seek and need wearing you JLC....

Trust me. That type sets up a weekly alarm to remind Tudor owners that they’re lower class on the forums.

LOL at all the watch snobs on here that only care what you wear looks like in someone else's eyes. all these so-called enthusiasts that couldn't pick out a balance bridge out of a random box of hardware store nuts and bolts.

relax. it's a fun release. a stainless, mechanical, refined moonwatch is still a thing of beauty and is totally different to what these swatches are. hold one in each hand and then tell me that you prefer the plastic one over the other.

Just like the speedy. Further indication that they nailed it

Seriously this effort appears to be a response to slipping in market share to Cartier.

It looks like a fun watch just as swatch was intended to be from day one.

Let me guess, it's a Patek alarm the likes of us couldn't afford.

Anybody who knows enough about watches to recognize a Speedmaster on someones wrist will also have the smarts to distinguish a pop-colored plastic Swatch from the real thing. And lots of people who wouldn't have known a Speedy from any other chrono now do, thanks to massive exposure all over social media over the last days. Overall this will be a massive win for Omega.

Planning to get one if I see one in stock. At the price point it does scratch the Moonwatch styling itch. Sold my Moonwatch awhile back because the bracelet is a bit dated and it is hard to justify it in my collection given the rarity that I wear it. Plan to get one as a beater.

I havent' seen any photos of lines outside (though I don't doubt our fellow forum mate posters reporting it). I did try to call over the last two days to get a gauge of how busy it will be, and line was always busy!!! Not sure I want to head out to wait in line, but I think this will be quite a hit with the general non watch community!

I just stopped by the 5th Ave store (I work a few blocks away). There seemed to be a lot of buzz. I was there talking to the associate for maybe 3 minutes...and at least 12 people stopped by. All walks of life stopping by, higher-end watch enthusiasts (saw someone with a 126619LB) to college/highschool looking younger people. Also interesting was the gender diversity seemed about 50/50 men/women stopping by to ask about the moonswatch.

-They're opening early at 8am tomorrow, with queue starting at 6am (I imagine people will be there much earlier) one person walking in said he was surprised people weren't already lined up
-The associate was friendly but he didn't seem too enthusiastic...his exact word was tomorrow is going to be a "clusterf***"
-Speculation they may limit it to one per person because of what's going on
-He said (with some joking tone) even if the U.S got 250k watches he thinks they could sell them all by 4pm tomorrow
-He gave me some advice on stores in NYC with stock rooms (some don't have them) and less foot traffic volume. Though I'm sure they'll all be inundated tomorrow
-Tomorrow could be quite the spectacle, so brace yourself if you want to try to get one
-He mentioned he knew of people flying in to try to get one. He specifically mentioned knowing of some coming in from Chicago

I'll say this much, this thread has brought out a lot more opinions and passions than the two hundred waitlist/grey pricing threads going on in the Rolex General Discussion combined.

Great point. However, I think we can do without the (Snob, investor, idiot etc) attacks if one disagrees with the fan base.

Let's start a pool for the price of the first one on DSW tonight as I am sure he already has a few.

He is adding the "Swatch" link right now I bet.

My guess $2K. I think will be the over/under.
