I recently asked the SA "do you have any flexibility on price?" and he said "unfortunately not, rolex sets our pricing". And I didn't push the issue further.

I think it might come down to whether the relationship with the AD is important to you or not. If the AD is just a storefront that you wouldn't necessarily patronize other than for this watch then there is no need to pay the higher price for a piece available BNIB from a trusted seller at a discount.

For comparison, my relationship and friendship with my AD is important. I patronize their business for my watch and jewelry needs and I have obtained sought after references with reasonable waits.

Good luck whichever route you decide to take.

PS> Might be worth revisiting them and making them a fair offer and see if they accept it.

Option 2. Just picked-up an unworn DJ41 with stickers till on it from DavidSW. It's my preferred way to go and I have never been disappointed.

I went back to the AD today and this time spoke with a different salesperson but was told the same thing. Zero negotiability on price. Oh well.

Buy used from a Grey with B&P. You can find them for the same price as the No B&P.

Which choice would you make and why? Here's my choices:
-
1. Buy new from AD for $13,200.00, plus tax;
2. Buy new from trusted grey for $11,775.00, including tax, box, papers;
3. Buy used (2017) for $10,300.00, including tax, no box, no papers.
-
Thanks for your input!
1 - If you plan to build a relationship with the dealer. You will pay a lot more than you can, but if you feel like it gets you on a reasonable WL for another watch you want in the future it might be worth it.
2 - If you don't care about building relationship an either A) want new B) plan to keep it forever.
3 - If you think you might end up selling it after some time and are OK with a used watch.

Get it from the AD , they might remember you when you want to put your name down for a Pepsi.
Also I was offered 10% off for the Blue Dial DJ41 last week from an AD in Dubai

If you think you might want to build a relationship with your AD, go with option 1.

A lot of people buy all of their easy-to-find watches from grey dealers and then throw tantrums when they can't get the hard-to-find stuff at retail.

Spending a little extra now might save you a lot of money down the line.

Buy from an AD if you want to start a relationship for future purchases. If not, there are several trusted greys in here. Always do your homework.

Yeah, the "relationships" being referred to in threads today will be interesting to look back on in 5 years.

I would buy it new from a dealer you want to do business with, pay a little premium but when you want SS, you’ll have a better chance. There’s no gain other than a little savings below MSRP on those models...
