Soap, soft toothbrush and water is all you need. I just gave my 2 a little bath today. Look like new after the bath...

[QUOTE=outdoors_guy;10591761]have a look at this New England journal study on survival of the virus, and I think it will set your mind at ease.

This study from the New England Journal of Medicine states, “SARS-CoV-2 was more stable on plastic and stainless steel than on copper and cardboard, and viable virus was detected up to 72 hours after application to these surfaces.”

The question after reading this was if this meant one may need to pay a bit more attention to how one handles their watches (touching face after touching watch, etc), especially if worn to places where possible covid tainted aerosols may be present (dentist, hospital, gym) and potentially get onto the watch. Especially if one is or is around vulnerable folks.

I work in private security and deal with a bunch of people day to day, and work in close quarters with others, so I give my watch a cleaning after I come back from work. Havent worn my Rolex to work since this whole covid thing started. Been wearing my Seiko Monster to work and use an alcohol wipe to wipe down any areas that may have rubbed up against arm rests or anything else that other people have come into contact with. Its a valid question i'd say.

Can you put the entire watch, or just the bracelet in the ultrasonic cleaner?

This same conversation can be applied to pretty much anything you receive in the mail- so would just handle it like you would any amazon package. Personally I would just open it, toss the packaging, and wash the watch, along with my hands in warm soapy water for 60 seconds. Anything else is likely overkill in my professional opinion.

Let the package sit for 24-48 hours. Don't touch your face during this process. Two days later you can enjoy without any concerns.

This is the most you'll have to do. It's overkill but will provide you psychological security, and will be a great story you'll always associate with the watch when discussing it with people in the years to come.

Wow............Please tell me you're kidding right

You should not place the head in the ultrasonic. Remove the bracelet and put it in ultrasonic cleaner.

Sanitizing a watch doesn’t need that level of cleaning, but in doing so you will remove any dirt on the bracelet.

Send the watch to me and I’ll clean it for you, on the house.

Just be extra careful, make sure to take the safe and precautionary measures like wiping down the items and you should be fine

Just injected with some bleach and give it a good dose of hydroxychloroquine with meal. Don’t forget it needs to be taken with meal. Should be as good as new!

Supposedly it can live on metal Surfaces for up to 5 days. Depending on how long a package takes to arrive, if you’re really worried you might need to just put it in its own quarantine for a few additional days before opening the package. Otherwise soap and warm-hot water!

If anything, just let it sit for a few days(5-7, as they say that's how long it can live on steel and other hard surfaces) for additional piece of mind. Might sound crazy to some, but this is what I would do.

I've heard 2-3 weeks depending on the surface. Be careful, Covid is out there.

I would be careful. Soak it in bleach or a good disinfectant and try and inject some into the internals via the winder....

Seriously thought wash it in soap and water, its great watch, enjoy.
Stay safe...

It's a late model no holes case with the engraved rehaut, NOS and fully stickered.
However, it's from a seller based in Milan, Italy.

Now, Northern Italy was very hard hit with Covid-19, should I be concerned about possible risks of Covid-19 from the watch as I read somewhere that it sticks to stainless steel for up to 7 days.
Will a good clean with warm water and hand soap help?

I know there are plenty 16610, but this is the exact specs that I want and at the right price.
You might want to open the packaging with gloves on and dispose of it just to be safe, wipe the box over with disinfectant wipes or something similar and wash the watch as you would your hands... thoroughly. If it was a major issue still they wouldn't be letting parcels into the country from Italy. (Which might be worth checking on too).

Thank you for all the replies and advice. Glad it's not just me going insane here lol
Crazy how life as we know has become, but will take some of the precautions recommended as wouldn't want to put those in my household at risk.

You don't need to do anything, except just leave the box untouched for three days.

just clean the package/watch/paperwork with Lysol/70% alcohol or UVC light. ( read the instruction, you need to leave the lysol or alcohol for 10-20 mins in order to disinfect the surface.)

You can dip your hand in a bath if COVID as I understand it. As long as your hand doesn’t then touch your face you are okay. Slightly over the top, but valid concern, I guess. Take it out of box in garage, soak it in Soap and water for 10 min, run it under water to get soap off, and pat it try. Lysol wipe the box and store it somewhere. Any surviving COVID will be dead well before 30 days.

Get the wife to handle it and then tell her it's from Italy (with an honest look) and suggest it's best if she self isolates for a minimum of 2 weeks. This should give you plenty of lone time with your new found love.

I then wipe down the watch, bring it home and remove the bracelet and bezel if it’s a sport model and throw them in the ultrasonic for a few hours. I’ll scrub the head down, reassemble and good to go.

Regardless of covid, you’d be shocked the stuff that comes out of the older hollow link bracelets. It’s really gross and I don’t want it touching my arm.

Hope this helps, just take precautions, be safe and you’ll be fine :)

This!

I was gonna say the same thing! I'd be more concerned about this than catching COVID from the watch. You can easily clean the watch, but I'd research the heck out of that seller first. Looks too good to be true.

I think you just have to clean the watch and the package with soap and water, or with a solution with alcohol
