Smallest size for 8.25" wrist

Rolex style in general doesnt really have a large watch profile look about them like other brands that were designed to be in a larger case from the beginning.
Omega or Panerai are natural larger cased watches by design. Rolex approach is to blow up a 40mm design to a larger case.

Look at the DSSD and Planet Ocean Chrono for example. The PO looks much larger than the DSSD yet only a 1mm difference because of its dial to bezel ratio. Same holds true for a 44mm Panerai. Rolex forte is 36-40mm designs.

Totally agree with you Rolex makes classic designs and tweaks them to be larger or smaller.

It is all taste, but these are my tastes:
Firstly it’s the lug to lug that is important for wrist comfort and presence..
Secondly you need to feel comfortable, don’t wear a size because you are influenced online
You have an above average wrist size, enjoy it
I have a 6.7” wrist. IMHO 36mm don’t look good on my wrist, too small.
I find the small watches move around on the wrist as well. Better to have a watch where the ends of the lugs are closer to the edges of your wrists. It makes the watch more stable.
I do have a 36mm vintage omega but it’s a certain look and certainly not for everyday or sporty.
You should stick to 50mm and above lug to lug if that’s what you like. Also consider that the oyster bracelet wears larger than the jubilee as the links protrude on both sides, so probably better for you.
I like larger watches generally, if I had a wrist your size I would be wearing all the u-boat 47s, Panerai 47s, Rolex deepsea, Omega Pro, and others that I can’t wear at the moment :)

I have the same size wrist. I think the SD43 is the perfect size for me. I also have a DD40, which is smaller than I'd like but it's more of a dress (v. sport) watch, which makes it more acceptable to me, IMHO.

Like others have mentioned, it's all personal preference. I know several big guys still wearing their 36mm DD's. It kind of looks like a 26mm datejust on a woman but they're happy and that's all that matters.
