Does nothing for me because it doesn’t have a date and it isn’t very easy to read the time on it.
I’ve also never, ever needed a tachymetre.

I like the ceramic models and esp the Panda but I prefer the Subc and GMTc, the watch wears a bit smaller than I like and the dial text is over the top and like a paragraph.

The Daytona has become my daily driver. It overtook my sub when it was placed on a rubber b and is quite possibly the most comfortable watch I have ever worn. The dial is busy, yes. But the Daytona has so many depths that it naturally brings your eyes to. If given the opportunity, I’d suggest taking it.

The Daytona was a bit of an acquired taste for me, mainly due to its size ... My size preference has decreased over time (from 42-44mm to 40-41mm). And the modern 6-digit Daytona is now one of my all-time favorites. It's great in SS, on OF, and in Pt.

I guess I'm strange too.
The only Professional watch I like is the Sky Dweller.

I have a 1999 Air King & a 2021 Day Date.
The only other Rolex I would buy is the Datejust, OP or Sky Dweller.
Sorry for my taste in watches.

No watch fits me better, 46mm lug to lug, thin, actually under 40mm case, best chrono movement on the planet... is it worth grey market? no... MSRP it's expensive but because it fits me yes I have and will buy more.

I never understood the hype either. Early on I told my AD that he didn’t have to worry about me being one of those customers who bugged him for one. The hype made me dislike it even more.
Then I wore a friends for a few hours and I fell in love with it. Size and comfort were big factors for me. I got the white ceramic in December and it has become one of my favorite pieces—at retail, but I feel that way about all of my watches…

It’s a really ugly watch. Please please don’t buy it. When your AD calls, please do pass.

I think the Daytona is a stunning chronograph, in precious metal. Particularly the platinum variant.

The steel variants are okay. Black and white isn’t my thing. Prefer vibrant colors.

I absolutely LOVE the Daytona. I really like chronographs and I am a huge race fan and the association to racing is a big part of that. However, I can see why some may not like it or even hate it. As mentioned above, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What is nice is that there are many styles of watches for different tastes.

Here is a quick education for you Kyle...

The Daytona hype started in 1988 when the automatic version (zenith based) was introduced. From that time on, it is the only mass produced watch that has ALWAYS sold over list and had a waiting list. It, literally, has been the most desired watch offered by any watchmaker for the last 35 years+.

OK, end of lesson.

Correction: the SkyDweller is in Rolex's Classic line, not the Professional line.

It amazes me to hear people put down what others have or love to have... Mom always said they are just jealous lol....

I don't dislike it but if I ever buy one it will be the pre-ceramic version. I just fi d the big black ceramic bezel to overpowering on a relatively small and already busy design.

I know it isn't a Rolex but as far as balanced design I prefer my Speedmaster.

I love my Explorer and Submariner but if I was offered a new Daytona at retail I'd probably say no, maybe flip it, but definitely not wear it. And there is zero chance I'd pay $45k for any watch that left Switzerland two weeks before as a $9500 wholesale watch that already has healthy mark up.

I highly doubt THAT will ever happen...

Look no further when Rolex introduced the "new" automatic version in 1988 using the base Zenith movement, Rolex specifically reduced the 36,000 beat rate down to 28,800. One of the hallmarks of a Rolex is reliability, long life, and serviceability of their movements. High beat movements are less reliable, require more servicing, and (generally) do not last as long. Also, I do not think the Chronegry Escapement will work on a high beat movement (much like Omega's Coaxial escapement requires a reduced beat rate to 25,200).

Too small, to fussy, difficult to read.

Had one, sold it, never missed it.

I'm glad that my speedy ticks off my boxes for a chrono in my collection.

I wouldn't say no to a SS Daytona if offered, but definitely don't feel like I need to move mountains to add any Daytona to my collection!

Thank you for the correction...I did not know that.

Since I like the Classics, that explains why I like the Sky Dweller!

I'm a fan. I had the opportunity to buy the stainless pre-ceramic in both black and white, but at that time I wasn't interested. When the ceramic came out, I changed my mind. It took 4 years, but I got one about a year ago, and it is one of my favorite watches.

I recently took delivery of an Omega 50th anniversary Silver Snoopy. I thought this watch might make me like the Daytona less, but that has not been the case. I hope I never have to choose, but right now I would keep the Rolex.

Physical attributes is not the soul reason for liking something.

People like the Daytona (in addition to aesthetics) for it's history, build quality, etc.

Heck people like the Daytona simply for its status symbol, hype and desirability... which is fine too.

Can't really apply your own point of view towards something and say it doesn't make sense. That in itself doesn't make sense since everyone's opinion is different. At one point the Daytona was one of the least popular in the entire Rolex line up that ADs almost have to beg people to buy or threw it in as a big purchase.

I like the Daytona Chronograph and I own one. I will eventually purchase one with the black dial. Very stunning in my opinion.

Me neither. But the world would be very dull if we all liked and wanted the same things, or thing.

The Daytona is a design icon. Instantly recognisable. It's beautiful in all its forms. And I'm not remotely interested in owning one. Difficult to use, difficult to see the sub dials in anything less than perfect lighting, no date function.

But so what? I love the 116610LV, a watch that really polarises opinion. I'm waiting for my third Sky Dweller, another watch which as many seem to dislike as love. Long may the diversity of taste and opinion continue. It makes the world more interesting. It can also catalyse tribalism and clique mentality, but that's people for you. Can't blame the watches.

I love my white dial 116500LN. Truly love it.

But there are others in my stable I like better: Explorer, GMT Master II, Speedy, and BB58

I’m with you. Love my LVc and SkyD.

Others can have all the Daytona’s.
