Life is a strange old business and very often it is impossible for us to make any sense of it. One of the challenges is to go forward without allowing it's unfairness to make us bitter and pessimistic. Sadness is the balance to joy and something most of us will know many times in our lifetime. I am not religious so for me the main challenge is acceptance rather than understanding. I therefore wish you the peace of acceptance.

My sincerest condolences Gerardo. It is so difficult to grieve the loss of a child.

It is said that not a leaf falls from a tree without permission from God. In this is knowledge that your darling niece entered life as God willed, and passed from this life as part of His plan. While none of us knows His plan, we can be at peace knowing that life and death have purpose. There is some solace in knowing that your niece has fulfilled God's purpose and rests in His mercy.

Dear virtual family:

Today, Sunday evening, I finally have time to take a long shower helplessly crying every time I close my eyes as I still can see her face. After a couple of very emotional days, with a beautiful moon in the sky, I poured myself some Reserva de la Familia from the special edition I sadly opened a few months ago as my father in law passed away.

Today's events were heartbreaking but also comforting. Listening to the priest, well known to be hard and a long friend of the family, stop twice during the service as his voice broke down was a clear confirmation of all of our feelings.

As we all cried as we let a hundred white balloons fly into the clear blue sky, we were surprised to see my brother and his wife, hugging each other, look into the sky and say out loud, with a big smile 'Catalina, see you soon!'

After greeting a lot of people and trying to get some sleep, I sit down only to find heartfelt and beautiful words from all of you. Gracias, from the bottom of my heart, and on behalf of all my family, for such a beautiful and unique gesture. I have told my brother and his wife that I have over 50 messages for them from my 'Watch Geek' friends.

THANK YOU once again, for being a special part of my life. Something others can not undertsand, but something I am grateful for.

G,

I've been absent for a bit and I am deeply saddened to have to come back to the terrible news.

You and your family are in my thoughts and in my prayers and tonight's Rosary will be in Catalina's honor.

Hang in there friend, God's plan is greater than ours.

-Carlos
