In my hood, buffet place opened up but they didnt factor in that a lot of islanders (espesically Tongans and Samoans) live in the area.

I went there couple of times and it was full with 300lb islanders going after plate by plate and having 2 hour lunches. Place then replaced the big dinner plates with smaller sized ones...didn't really work out. In 8 months, they closed.

True story.

Never been kicked out of a buffet. But at Brazilian all you can eat, at some point they decided for us that was all we shall eat, and stopped the meatflow to our table

I was up in the Pittsburgh area, Versailles, I believe, back when I was in the Marine Corps and a couple of Marine buddies and I went into an Italian restaurant with an all-you-can-eat spaghetti deal.

While we didn't get kicked out for eating too much, they did take a long time to get that spaghetti out to our table and they kept bringing baskets of bread, which we devoured, because we were so hungry.

The downside was that by the time the spaghetti came, we were so full of bread, we couldn't eat that much spaghetti.

That tactic didn't escape our notice and we figured the management sized us up as soon as we came through the door.

It was a good meal, though, and we had good time getting back together, so all was well.

Funny you should say GP, was in Texas long ago at an all you can eat rib deal and our group noticed the first platter was stacked, but as we kept ordering they started sending 6 then 4 the 2 !!!! At a time. Not impressed. But we were then told they were actually running out and offered brisket if we wanted but only one order.

I tried. When I was a kid my father took us to a buffet brunch in Costa Mesa CA, I want to say it was $19.99 a head. They had a lot of seafood and when we got there my dad would say, “ok boys let’s put this place out of business” we were only allowed to eat seafood.

Eventually it did go out of business so maybe we helped.

I was on a Viking cruise last year, the raw bar at their buffet has sashimi, king crab, lobster, langoustines, prawns, it’s good. It turns out if you have access for 14 days straight it is possible to get sick of raw bar:
