I would not trade the sub with any gmts.. Why don't you wait for Basel 2017 for a possible SS Coke gmt?

Would definitely add it to the collection and then make up your mind whether or not to sell the sub. You can put a glidelock bracelet on the BLNR to get rid of PCLs and have the better clasp. I have the 14060m and was going to trade for 114060 as like the bigger feel and glidelock is amazing, so will probably sell the 14060m but could have hated the new one and then would have to purchase someone else's used sub. I still haven't decided whether to keep both which I might do but least I have lots of time to think about it

In this case I advocate waiting and adding the BLNR.

In my case, the Daytona is not my grab and go do everything watch. Love it, but it isn't my all arounder. And yes, I hate the PCLs on the Daytona as well. Deep breath JRT it's okay to love your BLNR. There is no grand conspiracy against BLNRs or its owners.

As someone else suggested...try the GMTc LN.

I found the combination of the Daytona's SS bezel and PCLs to be too much, but I love them on a GMTc.

All its gonna take is for Rolex to produce another color scheme and the Batman will fade considerably. Give it time. Milgaus was hit once too.

Brushing a pcl bracelet is easy for any competent watchmaker and bringing it back to factory look if you want to flip it is also relatively easy. Im sure over time these watches will be come easier to get, especially if they come out with a steel coke, but who knows. They have speculated this since the BLNR was released. I for one love blue, so this one works for me. As far as PCL, if you really love the BLNR, but hate the PCL, when buying it, tell your AD you want them to brush the bracelet as part of the deal. I'm sure the will do it for a price of on the house. |

I had both and I flipped the blnr first for the lacklustre clasp and PCL, the subc glidelock does make some difference, imo subc is more iconic.

Why not ask your AD what he is willing to buy your used Sub for? Be prepared to lose $$$ though

Really iconic is owning a 116610 and a 116710, no matter whether LV/ LN or BLNR.

I honestly think the BLNR suffers from time and nostalgia! Ie it's only been around a couple of years so hasn't had time to become a nostalgia piece.
The BLNR is the Paul McCartney of the GMT lineup. Legendary, beautiful, really brings the DNA of a really good Rolex to the wrist... But it's not John (Pepsi) .....Because John's dead. And as a result no matter what good it does, it will always be remembered for not being John. But always remember that Paul wrote Yesterday, Eleanor Rigby, let it be etc... What's the desire to make the trade? Is it the GMT complication you are after? Or the appeal of the BLNR? Both?
If you really don't need the GMT function, you may find going from 116610ln to 116710ln gets you a similar looking watch. The splash of blue on the BLNR is probably a big attraction, because it does look really sweet. Like others said, you can brush the center links. I have a Daytona and BLNR, the PCLs don't bother me. Then again, not my only watch, so I can wear other pieces that have BCL or strap if I want a more subtle look. If you can, add it and make a collection. But if you are so smitten with the BLNR and it keeps calling you and you need to have it now, do the trade. Clear as mud huh? |

That's exactly my point. As I say Paul wrote Yesterday, Eleanor Rigby etc etc. I think Paul is better than John. But the public don't view him that way, partly because John's dead so people crave nostalgia. In time the BLNR will be as appreciated as the Pepsi. It just needs time Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Daytona C 500 also has a PCL bracelet, and do you dislike the watch because of the PCL or express your complaint on the PCL of Daytona C 500?

Do it! I've had mine for 6 months and it's the only watch I wear. The PCL's will dull down a bit and you won't even notice them. I could sell my other watches and be a one watch guy........ Maybe........

Get the BLNR, you won't miss your Sub even a little bit.

Thinking about trading 116610 for BLNR
I'm not a flipper. I get attached to things and prefer to hang onto them. I started with a GMT and eventually added a Sub Date.
So, I'd recommend that. You can always sell the Sub later on, if it's truly lost its allure. However, if the Sub must go to enable purchase of the GMT, then do it only after some contemplation. You said you "LOVED" the GMT. That's a powerful word. How did you feel when you first got the Sub? The same? How do you feel with the Sub now? How does the idea of parting with the Sub make you feel? Any reluctance? I think so, as you are asking for guidance. If you feel at all reluctant, don't do it. The GMT will remain available. It may be hard to find, but it's not impossible. Dial into your feelings about both watches and act accordingly. If you do sell the Sub, you will usually get the greatest return selling it to a private party, not a dealer. They are both great watches. Both worth owning. Both different enough, to folks like us, to justify owning both. I'd try to find some other way to fund your purchase. If there is no other way, and you really feel you can let go of the Sub without regret, then sell the Sub and proceed. Beware of flipper's remorse. So, if there's any doubt, there is no doubt. Don't sell the Sub without truly feeling certain. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Being honest.....I'm not a sub fan....sea dweller? Now that's different...kinda.... Anyway, until I wore my BLNR in public, I'd never seen one on the street....anywhere. They are still rare. Maybe not on this forum full of Rolex nerds but they are. I'd say get the blnr because at this point you can always sell it for full ask if the love fades....

I wouldn't...and at the very least, give it some time before you pull the trigger.
And if you do decide to, do not trade in your sub with the AD. You will take a bath. Sell it privately or do a flip with one of the trusted sellers on TRF. |
