I think you are overreacting.
First, you were chatting up folks at a marketing event where you were a guest. To some extent, they were there to glad-hand you and make you, their customer, feel appreciated. It was not a scenario where you were brought in as a consultant or advisor. You have no idea really if they were just humoring you. Second, you volunteered your ideas without any previously agreed to compensation for them. They were, and are, under no obligation to compensate you in any respect. Third, I'd probably handle the situation thusly: I'd send an email to the CEO with whom were speaking and say something like "Dear XXX, I was extremely pleased to see that the special edition watch we discussed at XXX is in fact being produced. Glad I was able in some small way to be a part of the process. I've more ideas about what XXX can do. If you are so inclined, I'd be available to discuss at the next XXX event. Looking forward to speaking again." |
