Totally agree with this. Pepsi/Coke 16710 is as good as it gets.

Both of these are doing very well on the used market here so I'd go for which you simply like the most on your wrist.

If the 16710 had GMT maxi dial and hands, like the 16610LV has compared to an ordinary 16610LN - the 16710 would be perfect.

"An objective perspective is one that is not influenced by emotions, opinions, or personal feelings - it is a perspective based in fact, in things quantifiable and measurable. A subjective perspective is one open to greater interpretation based on personal feeling, emotion, aesthetics, etc."
OP, A lot of what is being presented here are subjective in nature. One person's bling is another person's beauty. Imagine both of them side by side, see which one gives you the most tickle in your heart, and go with that. Ignore the price trend or availability, go with the one that sings the loudest to you. If Pepsi does it, get it. If not, BLNR is an awesome watch to own and enjoy.

16710 first as they are getting harder to find and then get a BLNR. The latter are easier to come by, I have bought 2 this year and passed on 2 to forum posters.

I would personally go for the Pepsi 16710 and wish I had bought one years ago when I started on my Rolex quest. Probably the white gold BLRO has driven up the stature and awareness of this fine sports watch. The BLNR is a fine watch too, but will be in production for some time. Attached picture not mine, but one that I like. Cheers!

I would do the same as Chuck, start the quest for the 16710 since they are progably going to go up in price, well..... That is true of any model but they are sure to become scarcer...
Search for the best you can find (full set in my opinion) get an extra coke insert, then save and get the BLNR Still can't go wrong..... |

I've tried on the 116710 BLNR and the 116719 BLRO, and honestly they dont do it for me like my 16710. They are VERY nice pieces, but not for me. In my opinion, I just don't like the number font on the bezel, the PCLs, and the maxi dial/hands/case. Plus with my 16710, I can (and very often do) swap the bezel inserts and it feels like a completely different watch. Its great for if I want to change things up for a few weeks.
If my closet friend asked me if I prefer the BLNR or a 16710, I would suggest a 16710 everytime. |

The bezel on the ceramic GMTs kills it for me. I don't understand that font choice at all. It's not like Rolex ruined the ceramic subs with an ugly font on the new bezels.
I would guess that the new case on the ceramic also makes it wear much larger. The 16710 is very sleek and wears quite a bit smaller than my LVc. Bottom line: 16710 is classic, BLNR is modern No wrong answer, but I prefer the classic. Unquestionable design beauty. -Dan |

The answer depends on your collection. I think the 16710 is the best of all the 5 digit references, so I would work that one in if you're planning to get more than one Rolex. Despite what some will say, the BLNR has better build quality in terms of the Bezel and clasp. But the 16710 is the coolest Rolex out there. It looks very similar to the GMT Master introduced in the 50s, perfect blend of modern and vintage.
I'd get the 16710 (with all the Bezel options) and a no date Sub for your modern ceramic Rolex. |

Chaps
I am pleased to see that the majority of us seem to prefer the old 5 digit for style and finesse. Admittedly this is only a small sample of opinion but the 16710 seems to be recognised as one of those watches that Rolex got totally right and was a hard act for any subsequent model to follow. I saw one (a coke) on a Jewellers wrist a few months ago and it just astounded me how everything fell together. It is a watch that makes you proud to wear a Rolex. Regards Mick |
