Wow, I could do without the tacky music.

Nice to see the police taking an active aggressive approach to this. Gotta keep us tourists safe!

That's a great word. I will try to use that in a sentence later today! I love the u/c officer who comes up & John Daly's that dude with a billyclub. One of those FA/FO cases, I guess Does anyone remember that show BaitCar? Basically the same thing, but with GTA.

Great police work where it actually matters.
According the article they are actually giving out jail terms, albeit too short.

Yes I don’t see anything wrong with it. And there are strict rules about undercover police conduct nowadays to prevent miscarriages of justice. It’s not a honey trap in the sense of getting someone to admit to something they didn’t necessarily do. The watch criminals are simply revealing themselves to law enforcement. People should be able to wear a Rolex or any other luxury item without being attacked.

Footage of Met police sting operation in London

A British media shared today some footage of a sting operation from the Met to try to curb watch theft in London: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKnyhKyr2Ik&t=149s

According to the video, "Police ran from their first two operations from October to December 2022 and March to October 2023 within Soho – area which accounts for 40% of all watch robberies in London.

The operations resulted in 31 arrests and 27 successful charges, leading to 21 convictions to date. Of this group, 14 individuals have so far been sentenced to a total of 26 years overall, with other cases pending.

The March-October 2023 deployment resulted in a 15.8% reduction in watch robberies compared to the same period the previous year (429 in March-October 2022, 361 in March-October 2023)."

As a Londoner and of course, huge watch fan. I love this approach from the Met Police. A lot of people jump on the Police and are quick to point the finger at their tactics but this is absolutely fantastic. It makes me proud to be a Londoner.

The bravery of these officers can not be overstated. They are dealing with animals here. Pack animals, cowards. I know first hand, as my friends and I lost a close friend of 20 years to these rats. All for a £5k Datejust 2. Again, when that happened, the Met didn’t stop until the two cowards were banged up. They are both sitting in a cell for the next 30 odd years.

Well done to the police.

To Clarify
The regular cops deal with comeuppance.
The vice squad handles cumupons.
Posts like mine are considered cumupuns.
