That’s incredible! Would love to have the same watch for that period of time.

Bravo… beautiful as the day it was made, and probably works as well too.

Your thread title says it all.

It's just a sub, because that's all it needs to be, unlike so many watches that want to be and can never be.

It's a legend in its own lifetime and it's all yours. Congratulations.

Very nice, it's a good watch. I happen to prefer its fancy derivatives (YM, SD43, TT blue Sub), but don't mind me. Wear it in good health. It's all that matters.

How anyone could call a 114060 “boring” is unfathomable!

It is far and away the best looking and most interesting modern Sub along with its Date companion (which I have), in my opinion of course. Not at all a fan of 14060/16610 range.

I applaud your taste!!!

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. On social media, watch forums, and YouTube channels, there is this narrative that the Submariner is boring. I never subscribed to that. The Submariner definitely has some flare to it, that’s for sure. And I agree with you re: the 114060, too.

Can't be 27 years, I thought the five digits weren't as tough and well made as the SubCs?

/Sarcasm off

It’s one of the most elegant watches out there. Even the teeth of the bezel glisten in the light.

I bought my 14060 in '98 (mfg in '97). So 26 years ago. In between that was the "M" version and then the ceramic era.

Agreed though it has has the most wrist time in the 25 years.

"Incredible" but true! I had no idea when I bought my Submariner new in February 1996 that Iīd still be wearing it as I type this. Itīs almost a part of me! Iīm not a collector, very much a one-watch guy. Anyway, the damn thing was built to be worn, wasnīt it? And Iīm sure it will outlast me...

It does, honestly! Even the bezel still works beautifully, no play, and I use it most days. Keeps great time too, and itīs been serviced regularly. Only thing is, the tritium lumeīs dead, but I donīt care!...

Yes, I often read (here and elsewhere) that the 5-digits arenīt really up to it anymore. Rubbish, as my own experience shows! And my Subīs had a hard life, believe me, but regularly serviced.

I don't understand why a lot of people say a Sub is a boring watch, is it just because it's plain black? Like many on here, I love my date Sub.
