No, because you will only have 2 watches remaining and your car experience will be ruined because you will only have a 6 year old “S” but wish you had a GT2-RS Weissach.

For a 997.2 in the right spec (for me S, but even better 4S or GTS or GT3 or GT3RS), yes. 993 yes, yes, yes.

After 997.2 and once electric steering was introduced the cars became more bloated and generic in road feel.

But still yes haha.

Very personal decision.

I got the right spec 911 on my 1st try. 2011 997.2 GTS 6MT RWD. I am not a car collector, I found the one for me. It's a keeper.

Over 40 watches have cycled through my collection and I am still searching. But I'd hold onto that white dial 116500LN. In many ways it is the Rolex that has defined this particular era of collecting.

Yes to a 911 - as long as its narrow body and manual transmission.

I think this depends on entirely on which you love the most, your watches or the 911. But then I would go for the 911

I’d keep the AP, Daytona and DD40. Sell the rest. I’d consider an Aston Martin Vanquish which has an amazing sounding v12 engine over the 991.2 Carrera S

Depends on how much of a car guy you are and how much you like the car. Having just picked up and lived with a brand new GT3 two months ago, I'd be perfectly fine if I had to sell all my watches for the car.

Have a look at the later Vanquish models(2016+) They feature the updated 8 speed ZF gearbox. In my humble opinion, one of the prettiest Aston’s ever made and a much better drive than the 991.2 Carrera S

I have had this exact conversation with a good friend who has three Porsche 911 GT cars and a fourth build on the way.

Based on how the used car market is, he said absolutely not. The dealers; if you are going that way, are banging consumers over the head with what they are asking.

Haven't you had most of those watches less than a year or two?

Are you really a car guy or is this just a whim?

I've traded watches for a car and a car for watches. They are both hobbies so whichever one is a priority at the moment makes sense.

You have 6 watches and only two arms. There’s an easy solution. Keep two watches, and get the Porsche that seats two people. Then each passenger will have a Rolex, and both of you can enjoy the car and the watches! It’s a “win-win”!

This advice is from 5 decades of rationalizing spending money on toys to my wife. I’ve gotten pretty good at it. If you like, I can help you rationalize buying a gated manual shift Ferrari instead of the Porsche.

There is not wrong (or right) answer.

I consider myself a watch guy, then a car guy.

I put a few watches towards a 911 and I didn't really regret it, because it was watches I could easily replace.

If you want the car and it's your dream car, I think you go for it.

I have a 993 and a 356. I’ve owned Porsches for 30 years. think I’d pair down if needed to do that to have the car.

I’m almost positive he’d have to include the Day/Date in that deal….

If you've never had a 911 go for it - but it will ruin other cars for you.

I'm a long-time P-car guy, so might be a little biased...

I think the only correct answer here is keep the watches and get a 911 :-)

I have a 991.1 and a 911SC that I absolutely love. I have thought about moving some things around and getting a turbo or GT3 so I understand the thought process you are going through.
