It's happened to me a handful of times! But I don't regret buying any of them, or letting them go....I really think sometimes it takes 'trying' a piece for a while to really know if it's a keeper.

I also sold my GMT IIC after a year, nice watch, but too big. Not to mention selling my new style datejust. I like the classic watches from the 90's and 80's

This type of watch behavior is more normal than you would like to think.

Same deal here. As soon as I get a watch my mind is off to wondering what's next. Sometimes I sell them without ever having read the manuals.

1 month? Try one day!

Sometimes you just can not wait to get something and finally its on your wrist and you say "its not for me"

Same scenario with my Milgauss GV. Flipped it for the Deep Sea and couldn't be more pleased. Never quite felt the Millgy as I always missed the date. It was perty tho. Nothing much else speaks to me at the moment other than the Hulk Submariner, but no need for a Subby when I have the Deep Sea, and which is a Subby on steroids.

1 month? No can't beat that.

I have owned and flipped many watches and I reckon the average has been 6 monthly periods at the height of my watch flipping starting 2006 through 2010.

Budget price models, Seiko, Casio G-Shock, Traser H3 and Citizen. Then those more expensive models including Oris; Mido; Breitling; Omega and of course Rolex of which I got through no less than four. The Rolex were all sports models, but in my defence I ended up getting a newer and better model each time ending up with the one I really hated selling, my immaculate SeaDweller.

I guess the biggest turn off watch in the shortest time was a 42mm Planet Ocean with an Orange bezel. The would have been about 9 weeks, the last days of which were misery.

Have you been reading my diary?? I have also got this strange disease. I have bought and sold 4 Rolexes and 4 Marcello C netunos ( a sub homage) which are all excellent watches. I have found that I am a "one watch only" kind of a person and feel unfaithful if I swap watches. So as per my earlier post I wear my 14060M cosc every day.... and wont even consider buying / selling another watch. ( strange ...even as I type this I know that may not be true...!!)
Oh well as long as my wife doesn't find out.

Those that flip so readily, I'm guessing that you do not live near an AD and so bought your watches sight unseen without having tried them on? Otherwise I can't see why you'd try a watch on at an AD, perhaps come back several times to try it on again and again, then finally buy it, and when you get home, decide you don't like it?

Yes me too, but although the watch in question was a Panerai I wouldn't describe the brand as being boring. Panerai make very nice watches but somehow, they don't agree with my wrist and my eyes. Still, you never know until you try...

The only watches I don't like are the ones I haven't bought yet.

Bought no, sold yes. I traded a YG sub on a DD pres and took a haircut doing it, and then jonesed for the sub!!

These are important purchases for me, and I usually deliberate and commit. The only Rolex I ever bought on the spur of the moment was the new Explorer 42 Polar. And it proved lucky; I love it. Now it's a key part of the rotation...

Welcome to the flippers club! I keep a spreadsheet of all of my watches and I think I am on watch #68 (or thereabouts) since I've really gotten into watches about 3 years ago. Crazy to think how much I spent on shipping, boxes, and packing materials...

It is a slippery slope but flipping is indeed part of many a watch enthusiasts' life!

No...I don't impulse buy, so I never get caught with buyer's remorse. Most of the time, it takes me years before I buy a model I've had my eye on. I looked at 14060Ms for three years before buying. I had been wanting a Polar ExII for aabout a year, then the leaked photos of the new 42mm Surfaced, and I waited another 1.5 yrs because I wanted to see the new one first hand before deciding. Finally was able to compare side by side at an AD. I liked them both equally, so I pulled the trigger on two that day.

Just once and I learned a valuable lesson.

Get what you want, do not settle for a compromise piece.
