As a biased 216570 owner, I think Rolex did a lot right with this model to set it apart from others. I look at the commonly voiced "dislikes" regarding this watch as points where Rolex choose to separate the Explorer II from the GMTIIC and the SubC. These usually being it's case size, hands, and polar dial option.

For me, this watch is among the most comfortable and rugged watches Rolex makes combined with all the latest sport technology. Definite good choice!

I love mine too!

The orange hand really stands out -in a good way- and is one of the reasons I preferred it over the GMT IIc.

Beautiful Watch if I do say so myself, from a very biased point of view. Welcome to the 216570 club. I love your pictures. I think you made a great choice. I wear mine everyday and after almost 2 months of ownership I still love it and get the same buzz out of looking at it as I did on the first day I bought it. Actually, I think I even prefer it more now as time goes by.

Great review and pics! I too have a new explorer2 polar. It seems like the orange elements on your watch are brighter than mine. Also, the "Explorer II" font in particular seems to be a bolder type. Is this kind of variation normal between watches of the same reference?

I'm not aware of any variation, and would be surprised if there were any defects with paint these days from Rolex. Do you have any pics so we can compare? It may just be the lighting that is given the illusion of something different but would be interested to see.

216570 Explorer is awesome - have had a black one now for a few months and love it - also looks great on a black NATO. Rugged yet stylish - had also been considering a new Sub C non-date but the Explorer won it for now!

Congratulations on a great choice. I've tried both dial colors on and feel the white dial looks much better.
