Yes, I paid a $1,500 deposit for one yesterday.

My personal opinion is that this will be MY pefect watch. I had a DSSD for 3 years and finally sold it as it is top-heavy, too tall and the bracelet is too narrow. The SubC with its PCL's is too 'jewellery' for my liking, so the middle of the range, not so flashy DS4000 is likely to be perfect in size and aesthetics. And as to price - they'll never drop like DSSD's, they'll never be so commonly found as SubC's, so they will very, very likely hold their value well indeed.

And, it's got the Glidelok clasp according to the Rolex website!

Oh, and a Matte dial - YAY!

No. It's just another super sized sub. In my honest opinion it's gonna cost you an arm and a leg so if i were to purchase the sea dweller it would be the old one. The 16600.

It's gonna be a huge price difference between them and ultimately they are pretty much the same thing.

I'm holding fire until I see it in person!

Initial impressions are good, I like the newer lugs and minute marker bezel, dial I'm not sure on yet as I like how my 114060 dial and bezel shimmer together! But I have found the more I look the more the matte effect does warm to me!

My current concerns are thickness and cost! Rumoured to sit at around 15mm think which isn't huge but with the 40mm keeping I'm note sure and from memory the Omega PO 8500 is about 15mm by 42mm and that just didn't sit right with me I preferred the 45mm option, and cost wise at £3000 estimated to sit over the 11460 or even the 116610 I'm just not sure! I could nearly add a lightly used 214270 to my collection for that.

But time will tell, I may go either way once I get it in hand.

Voted no.

I'd rather go all in and get the DSSD, or just keep on buying older Sea-Dwellers.

Not for me.
A very strange move by Rolex IMHO .
If the price is anything to go by you'd better be quick buying any SS sports model. Prices look like they're going skyrocket

I really like the look of this but for me it's just too small for a modern dive watch rated to 4000 ft. I also can't see why it's so much more expensive than than a Sub.

That is what the Sub C will look like in a few years. Roles going to change the lugs slightly if you ask me and then everyone will wNt the fat cased one in years to come!

Personally, I dig the matte dial and new bezel. New/better lume, all the movement upgrades and the new clasp/bracelet. I think it's definitely priced quite high, but perhaps the next Rolex price increase (if it hasn't already happened) will bump up other models more to even it out again.

I really like the new SDc but I want to see it in real life first to be sure about it.

At the moment I own a 114060 and a 16600 and I will probably sell the 114060 to get most of the funds for the new SDc.

Nah. Think I'll stick with my 16600 and sub c. Think if they'd made it EII sized, maybe, but probably not. I'm more likely to snag an EII.

I love it but don't see one in my foreseeable future.
LVC and 114060 has me satisfied as far as divers go (for now anyway).

I'm on the fence. I can see myself owning this one day, but it might not be for 5 years from the used market. I'm a little jaded by the price - considering it's kind of a step back in technology (compared to the DSSD), I feel it should be closer priced to the Sub C, rather than right in line with the DSSD.

Other than the price, I absolutely love it. Figures, which is probably why Rolex is charging so much for it.

I voted no and here are my reasons:

In the old days (16610) the SD was around $ 300,-- over the Sub and you got a better bracelet (SEL) and a HEV together with an engraved case bottom and a thicker crystal.

As the current SubDate C is around $ 2500,-- cheaper (MSR) minus 20% discount -- > another US$ 1900,--, the price difference is now $ 4400,--

What do I get more than with a Standard Sub Date C?

- A satin Dial
- The HEV (happened before)
- A thicker crystal (happened before)
- Minuterie on the bezel insert
- Engraved bottom (happened before)
- a wider bracelet and sleeker lugs

The later means ZERO cost though may be the dealmaker for many - I learnt to live with the wide lugs and find them practical in the long run (overpolished lugs anyone?).

So the SD does not give me any real benefit over the SubC and if I didn't have a SubC already, I'd buy it in a minute before the prices are being adjusted to the higher price level of the SDC

Have no interest in the Sea Dweller as a purchase. It's a nice watch though and it will sell like crazy, no matter what this poll says.

Didn't want the old sea dweller or the newest one. If I were to own any of the three it would be the DSSD. Something about that one. Saying that the DSSD is far down my list. Further than I will ever go.

I will always be a sub guy. My 114060 is as close to perfect as it gets. When I add an explorer, my casual watch collection will be complete. You might be able to tell, I'm not a big date guy.

Unless he's referring to the WG sub??

Anyway, I voted "maybe." I think it's my favourite Rolex release of the past 3 years, but I want to see a hands on side by side comparison with a 116610 before I make up my mind.

Nope...love the matte/satin insert; however, I have too many others in the stable that fulfills the niche this watch is supposedly designed to fill.

No. As I said in another thread, adding the new bracelet and a ceramic bezel to the old watch and nearly doubling the price doesn't add up for me. I owned a 16600 and it was a great watch at a fair price. For the new price, you can buy AP.

I'm a bigger guy with big wrists, so I'd still rather have the DSSD. I voted no. It's a cool watch, but my BLNR looks tiny on me.

Nope.

The price is too high, as is the height vs. diameter. This watch will be top heavy, just like the DSSD.

If it were 42mm I would consider it, but as it is no. For me the only difference between the new SD and the Sub is the bubble over the date. The fact that the depth rating is greater is meaningless to me and to most people.

Depending on grey or used market pricing, won't be buying one at full pop though

For my water needs my submariner gets the job done. I don't dive. I just enjoy the pool & swimming in the ocean.
