My wife is small and wears both big and small watches but they're mostly fashion watches with little cost Although I like the look of the 36 today it is a fashion trend and I don't know if you'll want a large watch like that in 20 years from now, but my wife who is 47 says get the larger one now or you'll be unhappy with it and if your style changes twenty years from now, worry about it then Better to enjoy what you want now and not overthink it Besides tomorrow is not guaranteed Post pics of your DD when you get it

Pick the one that sings to you the most! I vote for the DateJust as it looks much better on your wrist than the DD. Factor looks versus practical when deciding. My 2c.

looks bling to me, so not a fan of either. If I had to choose, the bigger one looks better.

Always buy what sings to you....otherwise you will take the long route eventually getting there. I see fashionable women wearing larger scale watches frequently. I guess that Maybe really true in Texas. Both are making a statement. "Go big or Go home" may apply here. Best of luck.

I'm partial to the DD on you. Only because I recently purchased a new DD myself as shown below. IMO. They both look fine on you.

LOL...everyone seems to know exactly what the OP needs, except the OP.

Unfortunately, indecision is not going to be helped much here on TRF...ask us a question and you're going to run the gamut with the responses you get.

That said...I think the DJ is the quintessential, do anything, go anywhere watch. Hard to beat. Unless you like the DD better, of course.

Not a fan of the DD, just because you asked! The DJ sits and fits much better. And always will.

No, I really appreciate everyone's opinions and that's why I started this thread. Please keep them coming.

I think so far the consensus is that the 31mm fits me better, but the 36mm could also work, especially since I prefer it.

Finally, does anyone definitively know if with all removable links removed, whether the DD will fit a 5.5" wrist? I scoured the forum, but couldn't find the answer or any pictures.

tell hubby you will make it easy on him , get the DJ in gold ,MOP and diamond and a second watch to make p the price difference could be the SS/18kt DJ in a 36mm to give you the larger look watch when you feel the need . 2 for 1 sounds like a good deal to me ! ha ha , good luck with your choice but IMO the smaller DJ looks better on your wrist !

On TRF there is no such thing as a watch too big for a wrist. I would go with the DJ though.

Happy 40th .

I would go with the DJ. The DD just seems a bit large on your wrist. Not that it looks bad, just a little large.

Not sure about the sizing issue.

By the way, they are both beautiful. Good Luck

A couple of thoughts.

- Down the road, the larger watch will be easier to read. You may come to appreciate this.

- Cell phone cameras are not accurate at rendering perspective. They tend to make 'every' watch look gigantic. I have a feeling that the DD looks a lot better on you in person than it does in these pics, lol. Absolutely no offense intended, this is supposed to be a compliment, lol.

- If you end up getting the DD, and you need to have a lot of links removed, absolutely insist that they remove them in front of you, and that they immediately place each and every link in plastic bags and then into the watch box. At ~$250 (or more) each, you want to keep every conceivable original link in the corresponding box (along with the papers, card, receipt, and booklets).

-FYI, a few things that I have observed in my life, lol. Your wrist will expand after a hot shower, or after walking through a large parking lot in the hot summer sun, or even after drinking a hot cup of coffee. My point is that you want to allow for a slightly loose fit when getting the watch sized. I don't know if the current 36mm DD features the 'easy link extension' or not. It's a cool 'one touch' way to add a half-link of length to the bracelet without having to manually add a link.

I sincerely hope that you are able to get the watch of your dreams and that you enjoy it thoroughly!

Kindest regards, -rick.

31 looks better. But not so much better that your "want" of one over another should sway your decision.

So get the one you WANT.

My wife still prefers a 26mm. I think you have to go with the one that "speaks" to you. Otherwise you will become one of us and will be buying the second watch in the not to distant future.

Since you like the DD more, that's what you should get. If you don't like it when you're 60, you could always trade it for another rolex.

Hi Mousey,

Definitely go with the one you like the best. As far as the bracelet fitting your 5.5 in wrist, ask the AD to size it for you before you buy it. I've done that with Rolex, PP, and VC and never had an AD deny the request. In the end I bought the Rolex and the VC. The Patek didn't fit me as well as I'd hoped but I never would have known that if I hadn't had it sized for me.

Good luck with your choice. :)

Cheers, Sarah

DD is too big in proportion to your wrist, the DJ is the right choice for you IMO.
BUT...... there are other choices could you consider that are also smaller than the DD

The DJ fits your wrist much better in my opinion. The DD is a little too big. Of course they're almost identical, but given your small wrist, the difference in size makes me see the DJ as classy and the DD as more on the blingy side.

You really need to know if the DD bracelet will fit your wrist. I think ladies tend to wear it loose so this might not be a problem... but if you want to wear it tight, this might not be possible without removing a permanent link.

Regardless, you have a great taste in watches!
