What a waste. You should just get into grey market trading instead. That way you can touch watches all day and not wear them whilst making $.
Yes that's me. I spend like 30-60 minutes in the bank vault, once every 1-2 weeks, putting on Patek gloves, laying a nice velvet cloth on the table and then play with my watches .... The bank vault is 1 minute walk away from my office and so it's very convenient and practical, not to mention very cheap too (versus getting home insurance for the watches - a pain here in HK).

Good point - I know the 5320 loses value but I want my name on the certificate ... of course I don't intend to sell it anytime soon but that is indeed a consideration if I do need to sell it down the road. 5740 is much more likely to hold value.

The reason I can afford Pateks is because I don't have a car (owning one and buying a parking space is ridiculously expensive here in HKG, and I really don't need one) and I'm very single ... I think I'm very single for a reason

Now they are down to the low 60's used retail complete as new. What a dealer would pay someone for one used is probably based a 20 percent margin so the numbers have gotten bleak quickly on this one.

Home insurance not needed if you live in a building with a porter. Buy a 200 kilo safe and no one will be using a diamond drill to open it up or carry it past your porter.

Then you can play with your watches daily at home

Pt salmon with different hands would be sweet

Also you can rent a car park spot for 2500-3000 HKD a month. You don’t necessarily need to buy one.

If you don’t choose the 5740 send me as referral and I’ll happily pick it up and do an incoming post on here (see threads created by me) :-))))

Since you tell me about yourself and all the posted that you mention......

I say go for a full blown Patek Philippe grand complications such as minute repeater or Celestial moon age, or tourbillon.....

Maybe buy a submariner or 5196 and fall it a day? I don't see much of a point in buying an expensive watch and then chucking it in a safe for eternity because it's too valuable.....

Yes I'm the hoarder .... I have 9 Pateks now and I did sell a few of my unwanted/unloved watches in my other thread. Waiting for 5212 which will be my 10th.

I want to get a perpetual now and there aren't that many good looking ones in the current production. I wouldn't mind buying some older models (3940 / 5140) if they are double/single sealed.

I like my watches in pristine condition and while I do have a few daily watches that I don't mind getting scratched (currently a steel Skydweller), it would really hurt if I scratched one of my Pateks!

I'm leaning towards the 5320 now ... but I'm still quite indecisive ...

Since you do not wear your watches I would sell the whole lot of them. They are just drying up in the vault and your money could be better used to buy something you will use. I love the post about letting the dealer surprise you with the watch in a black box. The key is to never open that box just put it in the vault so you can forever wonder what is in it.

5740 or 5320?

This reminds me of Howard Hughes behavior I hope you get it sorted out. To each their own but it’s hard to relate to not wearing and enjoying such great watches.

Has this thread encouraged you to take your watches out into the sunshine a bit more, Count D?

I’ve got the 5320g and it’s really the best watch I’ve ever owned. I wear it everyday.
Legible, beautifully proportioned with real Patek DNA and flies below the radar. Looks great if you want to change up straps too!

I still find it hugely odd you'd go to a vault to pull out the watches to look at them. I mean, I do the same, but that's when I need to decide which one to WEAR out.
