I like the lightning bolt , didd as l, and crystal. What’s held me back from ever buying is the thickness and outdated tech. The latter bugs me bc just feels lazy on Rolex’s part to highlight the Milgaus for its antimagnetism, justifying its presence in the Professional line, but to continue to use outdated technology. They should have retired this model a few years ago or committed to its “purpose” and updated the movement , ditching the faraday cage (and at the same time probably allowing the case to be thinner). Just my 2cents

I love mine. The green crystal and second hand make it fun. If I want a serious watch, there are loads of others from which to choose. Same way I feel about my Sky Dweller. A GMT or Exp II are good at what they do, but the Sky-D does it in a different way. Variety and choice is a great thing.

The watch has all sorts of quirky features that some love and some hate. Lighting bolt hand... controversial. PCLs on a sport watch... controversial. Thick case for antimagnetic cage... controversial. Blue, orange and green color scheme... controversial. What I have found is that unless you see the package as a whole, you will never understand why someone would overlook the quirks... but the total package is gorgeous in the most special way. Pics can't do it justice, nor can seeing it once. Time is on the Milgauss's side.

The lightning bolt is an integral part of the Milgauss's history.

Also, I think there's no date window to ensure maximum protection for the movement from magnetism.

The Milgauss is the only watch Rolex makes that gives me some assurance that someone less than 75 works there. It's got brio and a fresh feel in that second hand, glass, and (for the Z-blue) dial that are largely lacking in most modern references.

It's also on my short list, so, I may be biased.

Ive got a white face Milgauss and I love it. By far, it is the most comfortable watch I own. Not sure why...maybe its the thicker back, but it is great. Also, by far, the most accurate rolex I own.

It is a real sleeper and doesn't look like an expensive watch to most, so when I don't want to look like I dropped $6K on a watch its the one I wear.

I've owned a Milgauss before. Love the watch, and I found the second hand a charming design choice. Definitely the most polarizing part of the watch, though.

I let it go because I didn't care for the polished case and center links. I would love a blue Milgauss with an all brushed case and bracelet, and the lovely squiggly seconds hand

I doubt it's just you, although I don't share your view on this particular aspect of the watch. I think it rocks. It's so cheeky and garish that it just shouldn't work. But for me, it does. I think they nailed it.

I both agree with and commend you on your decision to pass. I think you did the sensible thing. The right thing. And I bet the new owner of the watch thinks so too.

I have owned almost all Rolex references over the years. The Milgauss has a special place in my watch world though. It is the only watch that consistently makes me smile each time I put it on. Never see it in the wild, the blue dial is mesmerizing in certain light, the lighting bolt is so cool yet fades into the background once you own it, it’s the perfect summer watch, it get more looks than any other rolex I’ve owned, the height of the case is negligible, the polished center links give it a nice pop and lastly, it’s gonna be a future classic.

To each their own but if you want a super funky Rolex.....buy this one.

But I will never be as passionate about an Apple Watch as I am an obsolete mechanical watch.
so are you saying that the apple watch is only true "tool" watch of the bunch? and every rolex is basically just an expensive piece of jewellery?

What happens to all the people referring to the Sub a true tool watch, while the YM is more dressier...etc, what's with all that?

Agree. I like everything about the watch but the orange lightning bolt is not one of them.

In this modern age, that is correct.

Don’t take my word for it. You can call them whatever you heart desires

Not sure of the most unique. The AK 116900 is unique because it's the first time Rolex made the crown in yellow, Rolex name in green and the second hand also in green. What makes the Z different is the bolt and the green crystal.. they both have the 3131 movement, anti-magnetic and double case and the AK is 1200.00 less. I may be bias, since it was the first Rolex I purchased, because it was different and of course in my first Rolex price range.

Love my Z-blue. I also picked up a Air-King earlier this year. I like Rolex watches which look different than a Sub. That is why I am also a big fan of DJ41.

What makes the Z Blue different from the Air King is that it is a Milgauss

Like the engraving on the back

By the way, the Zirconium dial is only found on the Z Blue Milgauss

The zirconium that matches the gorgeous full blue chromolight

So, maybe know the watch you are trying to crash the thread of next time?

Ok, I get it, you love the Z-blue and that's all good. Like I said I like the watch, just not the bolt. That was the first watch I was going to get, then I saw the AK and liked that one better. I'm happy,...you're happy. It's all good don't get too uptight, it's bad for your health..
