Sounds like you’re at the right place.
Here’s to becoming “RippedNinja” in 2020.
I wasn’t having a full conversation. Someone called me and it was less than 5 mins. It was enough time for me to move 2 45 plates to another machine. U are mistaken that I am having a conversation

If u are not tolerant enough for a few minutes of someone picking up the phone. I wouldn’t want to be in your gym neither

There is a certain level of tolerance that one should have...

Wow surprised some of you guys think I’m in the wrong.. this is not like on the quiet car on the train and someone is carrying on.

I picked up the phone answered a few questions and lady started yelling. And giving me and attitude.

No the lady yelling at me was scrawny. Tall though...I’m going to go with she had some serious issues going on...

Like, sounds like, both of you are in the wrong. Like, what is “this is not a planet fitness” mean in terms of rules and etiquette?

Maybe you shouldn’t have answered but she definitely shouldn’t have turned it into an ordeal.

This is why I love my home gym. Less equipment sure, but no crap from anyone else.

Planet fitness is a softer gym. That’s what they advertise. No judgement zone. Not for meatheads like me.

Wonderful place but not gritty enough for me

You going to the manager is the equivalent of a which watch should I buy thread. That said, another classic post, entertaining reading. Now I’m off to my garage gym. Sometimes my wife yells at me when I’m there, but no one else.

I didn’t turn it into an ordeal. I checked with the front desk to make sure I didn’t violate their policy.

Their response. Ignore her. We have crazies here

My wife wants me to get a home gym instead but I like the amount of free weights here. I don’t go to planet fitness down the street because their dumbbells apparently stop at like 60lbs...

I don't think so. Gym is not opera or something. As long as you go to a quiet place there and don't bother anyone of course.

I’m a regular at the gym. I usually go get left alone and leave others alone. I don’t usually pick up the phone at the gym...
No one ever calls me. Today a friend called for a brief moment to get advice

Nothing wrong with phone calls - unless it's a shouting match. Some stick in their ear buds and don't realize they are yelling.

As to slamming weights around..... These folks need to go back to some more dainty weights that they can work with..

Crazy ladies, and men, should be ignored no matter where we find them.

You did nothing wrong and had a close encounter of the third kind. It happens.

People are more rude these days and not just at the gym. It's on the road, at the shopping mall, etc. Basically just everywhere. It's a fact of life.

I find some stuff in the link below pretty useful.

10 Effective ways intelligent people deal with rude people

Even if it was a violation of their policy, SHE shouldn’t have gotten so heated up about it. Maybe she hasn’t heard it, but “don’t sweat the small stuff.” If you talking on the phone was a big enough issue to rile her up, I feel bad for her lol.

I use my old phone just as an iPod/music/podcast player at the gym but I wouldn’t have a phone call in the middle of the gym. I’d maybe answer and go to the side or say I’ll call them back. I also definitely wouldn’t yell at someone on the phone though. If they were obnoxious, I’d probably just judge them to myself.

I was on the side in the hidden part of the basement. That’s where all the leg stuff is. Usually no one there

Cause most people skip leg day

By the way most regulars stand around talking to each other the entire time at the gym so this was no different than that except it was only for a few minutes

I don’t know how you talk on the phone, some people are just “loud”.
She and others came to the gym to work out and have some peace and quiet.
Just think, if everyone around you or at the gym was yapping on the phone at the same time, it would be a very noisy place.
Further more, why do I have to listen to your stuff, even for 1 minute? You want to talk on the phone at the gym, take it outside. I assume you came to the gym to work out, not talk on the phone.

Yeah I’m not loud

You know what now that I’m home... I really don’t care I’m over it and if she’s having a bad day. That’s her problem not mine

It's now 7 months since I joined the gym and nothing has changed. Maybe it's time I go there personally and find out what's wrong.

Well I think you may be having a bad day, you took the time to post a thread on a forum. It obviously upset you, you have a right to be upset and vent a bit. So OK.

Maybe there are no rules on the matter at your gym, but she was asking for some consideration. Was that tough to do? You could have taken it outside and no harm would be done.

She wasn’t asking she was yelling. I hung up and she was still going. I’m over it. Oh well. I’m more tolerant than most but surprised how angry the world has become. Everyone gets triggered so easily these days.
