I don't think you need to worry about wearing. To be quite honest, there are many around the world suffering of hunger and poverty and that have had those issues prior. There are just more now, but issue of hunger and poverty has always been there and a good cause to take up in helping.

People were struggling before the pandemic. Other people's situation never really influenced what I bought and I wouldn't feel awkward owning and wearing my Rolex because someone suddenly lost their job.

I certainly wouldn't flaunt it - not that I ever do. But I understand the tendency to be cautious or conscious about what I wear and when. I volunteer (or I did) at a place that help people struggling with mental illness. Many of the people are homeless and all of them are low income. I never wore a Rolex there because it just seemed to... Insensitive.

But I can't help but think that the pandemic is different.

Some people absolutely DO notice your watch, especially when it's a big, bulky steel watch like our faves are on this forum. Not everyone, of course, but many will. Don't confuse the fact people don't SAY anything to you about your watch with them not noticing it. One caveat - with social distancing, people are physically further away from you, so there could be fewer people noticing during these times.

OP, I think you are making a thoughtful choice. Good for you.

My reason and I speak for myself only . I do not want to have a 12 grand Rolex in a wrist when people don’t have enough money to pay bills and food . I know food banks are running out even when there are long lines . We give to food banks and our church too. I’m one of the fortunate ones that still has to work .
Am I being too Paranoid about wearing a Rolex in the wild now?
Give me your thoughts please . Thank you !

Are you not wearing it because you feel guilty or because you think someone will mug you? It’s not clear from your post.

If it’s because you feel guilty than You could sell your Rolex and donate the proceeds to local charities if it bothers you that much.

However, If it’s because you’re paranoid than watch wear you wander

The reality is there have been lots of people struggling for a long time, it’s only getting more media attention now as the number expand. I wear what I wear.

As long as you wear it normally and are not shoving it in people's faces then there is no issue, there have always been people struggling in the world, now is no different.

I would wear what I usually wear. I know people are struggling/hurting but I always feel that the safest place for your watch is on your wrist.

There are always people who are struggling financially, plague or no plague.

I pay plenty of taxes and give plenty of money and time to charity. I wear my watches guilt free.

It's not like you're driving a bright red ferrari around wagging a stack of cash out the window.

It's a watch, most people won't notice/care, pandemic or not.

Some family members had to go into hospital for tests so I did buy them some KN95s so I guess I do notice who is wearing what now a bit more.

People notice that you probably have an expensive watch. Meaning you paid $300 or so for it.

If you want to wear it - go ahead. You bought it with your own money, right? You worked for it, so enjoy it.

For every person wearing a 12k watch, there’s another wearing a 22k watch and so on and so forth. Covid or not.

Paranoid. Yes. I wear all my watches out and nobody ever notices. Note that I double wrist with an Apple Watch and I usually have my sleeves up. So if I never get a comment, why would you?

Do what feels right to you. I am wearing my watches but I am at home so it does not really matter much.
