After careful consideration maybe the milgauss primarily because of color reasons and the lightening bolt. This watch is completely underated

I like the Exp. more personally. However you stated you already have the 36mm. They are different sure, but there’s a bit of redundancy there if you are looking to get rid of one. I would say keep Milgauss based off that.

Thanks. But don't wear the 36mm anymore. So not so concerned about redundancy there. Keep it more for sentimental reasons I guess.

Funny thing. Of all the three main watches I wanted to keep, none of them would have a date. Explorer/Milgauss, Daytona, or ND-sub

The lightning bolt seconds hand isn’t for everyone and that is precisely the reason why.
That's why I got the Black GV a couple of months ago!

Makes sense. Then change my vote to keep the Exp. Just a clean classy nice watch. I don’t dislike the Milgauss, but out of the two I would say the Exp. for sure.

Whichever one wears the best on your wrist. For me, it’s almost certainly the Explorer

I'd keep the Milgauss.
I own both 214270 (long hands 3/6/9 Chromalight) and 116400 GV Z-Blue. I think the latter one is far more special that the Explorer.

Explorer. It's the perfect Rolex.

The Milgauss is quirky-cool, but I don't like the orange accents.

Both are great, but the Explorer is a classic, and if I could only keep one that's where I'd go. Lighter, more comfortable, and much prefer the all brushed lugs/bracelet of the explorer over the Milgauss.

I actually owned both of these models in the past (at the same time, too). Black dial non-GV milgauss and T-Rex Explorer 1.

I have the Explorer 39mm with the short hands and I find it to be a great watch. The hands don't bother me at all.

The numbers are tight, I like close polls. The discussions seem to add value.

I'd say the Explorer. The updates are nice, keeping true to the design. With the updates to the movements, the advantages to the Milgauss are at this point moot, correct?

I have to tell you. Is there another option? I would flip the two of them. Just not a fan of either. Also, i prefer a watch with a date function.

The discussion is good but making the choice harder NOT easier. Making me think I should just keep both. But I WANT to trim DOWN the collection.

The plan is to start selling after covid is over and the market picks up. So I have some time. 6 months to a year or more to decide.

But now thinking keep the explorer. Like 51% in favor of the explorer. How does one make a decision when I like them both?

I feel like I'm in the jam study.

But I keenly dislike the T-rex Explorer. That should have never been made.

The 36 Explorer is a classic.
The 39 T-rex was a weak attempt to quickly bring out a larger watch. The quick switch to longer hands indicates Rolex feels the same.
Very well said. Between these two, I'd vote for the Milgauss, even though the black dial is not the one I'd own (between white, black & blue... I'm taking the blue one 10/10 times). The Exp1 is very nicely-balanced with appropriately-sized hands. The short hands are annoying once you notice them.

I would keep the Explorer simply because I prefer it over the Milgauss.
The short hands of the explorer have never bothered me so that would have no bearing on my choice either way.

Explorer all day, everyday. It's the only one I'll keep to the end of my days

Fully respect some people love the orange lightening bolt but I think it's a bit gimmicky.

Fully respect that some people will prefer the PCL's to a fully brushed bracelet but I find them too blingy and a bit of a scratch magnet. Sold my GMT IIc for that very reason and have never missed it.

For those two reasons and the fact that 39mm wears better on me, I prefer the understated, under the radar Explorer. T-Rex hands do not bother me at all.

I'm sure you'll come to the right decision

Of the two I’d keep the Explorer, the Mg is too jazzy for my liking.

However, if I were in your shoes I’d bring the 36mm Explorer out of ‘retirement’ which makes the Mk1 Explorer redundant, thereby leaving you with the Mg.

Milgauss has a more distinctive dial but the Explorer is much more of an everyday wear. It’s lighter and less flashy. Tough choice. If I were to just go with one watch it would probably be the a Explorer.
