Agree. If you don't have anything positive to say...keep your thoughts to yourself. People need to be nice to each other, we need more positive not negative in these times...

There are 2 occasions when I don’t drink. First, when I drive and second, when I purchase watches

Either way, without going too far down this rabbit hole, I shared my opinion and a simple fact regarding social media awareness. This may or may not be important to anyone or perhaps it doesn't apply if you own your own business or private sector as the poster above, but it does exist.

On bachelor party in Bahamas at AD in Atlantis got an insaneeee deal offered on SubC while sober. Pregamed that night. I was so drunk, i just up and left the hotel room and caught AD before they closed to pick up the watch. I am trained real well by my wife, because I did call her before hand to get the green light.

Earlier that night, I won like $300 off my friends on a Belmont stakes randomized drawing. My friends always get a good laugh... “Remember the time Brian won $300 and bought a Rolex?”

Well one thing I can say is that if one searches my posts, you definitely won't find anything referring to buying watches for my wife and then later girlfriend.

Last time I was drunk was 1984. I do sip wine and drink beer on a regular basis though. Usually just 1 or 2 glasses of wine a day or maybe 1 or 2 beers instead.

I'll second these two but will add a third occasion for me.

When I know the wife is definitely in the " mood " so she's expecting some love that evening ....... when I was younger alcohol was a great aphrodisiac but as the years went by it's been the opposite if anything!!

But seriously you have to laugh sometimes. Life is short. And it’s good to be humble and not believe your stink doesn’t smell.

Some of my favorite Rolex, gun, and other various purchases have been made after a few. And I'll be damned if anyone tells me I did it the wrong way.

If you're referring to me, I have no idea what you're talking about, I don't think I've ever talked about my retirement fund let alone a watch as one.

What’s the point in even taking the time to comment if there’s nothing positive to say I for 1 have bought quite a few things while having a few to many fortunately not a watch ... yet!

This. Some of the comments from the dissenters seem to imply that we regret or are upset with these purchases. It's usually something I've been eyeing for a while and everything aligned and I got the little nudge I needed to pull the trigger.

Think you need to lighten up my friend why be so judgemental no one is causing any harm and if the funds are available and no grief is caused what’s the problem

Ok, I tell you a good one....

A close friend (wis) and I went for a drink one night. As we were talking and enjoying some german beverages....we got talking about watches, as expected. I shared with him that a dealer offered me a solid gold vintage Omega piepan but I dont have funds at the moment.
Somehow, we agree to buy it together 50/50 and share the watch until one buys it off the other one.

Greattt, as I sip another pint I texted the delaer I shall be buying the watch for .........
Next day, I went and bought the watch......and I called my buddy and said:
“We got the watch!
He says:
“What watch?
I’m like:
“The Omega we said we gonna buy together......

He is like:
“Huh, did I say that?!!!
“Yeah, you did m...r!

So, I ended up with the watch as my buddy never remembered what he said.
We are still good friends.

Not drunk, but a couple of glasses of wine at the Breguet boutique in Las Vegas greased the wheels on the purchase of this Marine. A favorite to this day.

It seems there is a new idea on the forum that if someone doesn't agree or posts something contrary that he is an angry rude bull just looking for trouble. I am obviously not angry nor do I think I'm being rude. Or the "why post if you don't blahblahblah"....Is that the only view we want here, just appeasing or pacifist views without thought or content.

I think it's ok to post opposing views, being a functional member of society or in this case the forum, I think it would be a shame that it requires that one only posts happy joy joy comments everywhere. You like this, yes, buy this, yes, new Pearlmaster, yes....I think you can lose objectivity or perspective and more importantly overlook the experience that members offer, which there is so much here from the world wide membership.

To be clear, I don't really care what anyone does with their money or how they do it. When I see the word "drunk" I associate it with a negative connotation and the word by definition implies that. Sorry if some are being rubbed the wrong way by my comments, it was just my point of view. Enjoy your weekend, I assure you I'm lightened up, 2020 has been tough so definitely not looking to spark conflict. HAGW
