Every Rolex that I have was purchased from an AD at MSRP.

Full disclosure: I have one Rolex.

There may be more stigma attached to purchasing from a secondary dealer, especially if it is a model commending an extremely high premium, such as some of the colored OPs or a Daytona.

Personally I wouldn’t buy from grey, would rather not have the watch. This excludes vintage pieces or discontinued ones. I can’t stand the shady practices of greys such as removing a white gold link from a white gold watch when the watch itself should be sold as FULL SET, in cahoots with ADs to obtain all hot pieces for the sake of selling at 2-3x MSRP, no genuine passion for horology. But my greatest pet peeve about grey dealers is how they always say that the overpriced watch they sell WILL appreciate in X years? If they are so sure how about they pay me the future value in X years today?

Lots of folks love to mention their AD purchases.
It’s a humble brag/flex all the way.
These are the kind of people you don’t want to get stuck talking to at cocktail parties. Very boring.

The more braggable the more douchable I always say. Just enjoy the watch
