I live in UK so most of this is lost on me, basketball is as big as Danny DeVito here.
I agree with the comment that Patek should have let the watch die gracefully though. It feels odd to me that the most upper class watch house in Europe has let their most famous watch take a bow in this way I.e tacky!

I wonder how much LVMH paid PP for all this attention. It is becoming obvious their goal is to slowly trickle these watches out to celebs rather than actually sell them to customers. Unfortunately for LVMH that isn't going to turn Tiffany into Cartier.

I really just wish the ‘normal’ guy could get a crack at what they want….. I was a huge Nautilus fan when no one wanted them,,,same with AP RO. It’s hard to add anything anymore and consider myself lucky to have what I shave but like every watch nut there is ALWAYS something else but it’s soooo much harder to scratch the same itch.

Don’t get me started with LeBron… his silence on “China” is very telling of his stance on making more $$$ over the welfare of others. Everything he does is what is best for LeBron and his brand.
I’m surprised he even has the Tiffany 5711 because he is after all THE BRAND AMBASSADOR for AP!! Remember his Black Panther AP?!? Maybe AP will give him a break for wearing THE 5711, the most coveted watch in 2021/2022…haha. So much for AP…guess LeBron knows a thing or two about being duplicitous

What’s best for LeBron may not necessarily be the best for others…

You gotta give him credit. He can grab a defensive rebound, dribble twice and dunk the ball without traveling! Apparently.

All kidding aside, I can’t imagine being influenced by any of these famous “influencers.” But, whatever. These 5711s aren’t for me and you. Well, they aren’t for me. That’s for sure.

All politics and hype aside. I still like it and the way the dial pops

Unfortunately, that’s the game they appear to be playing. I agree with another poster that said that the dark blue dial was the most aesthetically pleasing.

This piece only appeals to me because of all the potential “oohs” and “ahhhs” from other watch enthusiasts when they see me wearing it (as if that will ever happen!)

In a vacuum, it’s probably one of the weakest 5711 that ever came out. The baby blue dial takes that piece from a classic horological powerhouse to something leaning towards on the trendy/fashion side (and as such, not as timeless nor elegant), IMO.

I like my PPs and APs (or any other brand for that matter) in more subdued, classical dials save maybe for the Rolex LV as the only exception to that.

I have to agree. PP dropped the ball here. This simply does not fit the image that they have been trying to portray all these years/decades

What's next? vibrant Pink????

A salmon dial Nautilus would be epic, vibrant Pink would be absolutely amazing, if only Andy Warhol were still alive

This is great news!

The question is, when will PP be updating their long-in-the-tooth magazine to better reflect the company's rapper and hip-hop retail customers? So far they seem to be alienating them to a large degree imho. It was a great publication in the 1990s and early 2000s for its more business-like and highly-educated clientele they had at the time, yet times have greatly changed and today it does not reflect PP's desired retail customers. Truly do hope PP can make the changes needed to migrate their publication to the factory's modern audience.

So perfectly stated.

Same here, seems like he's marmite which is a reflection of the watch so maybe it's a good match.

For all of you saying so much hate, it goes beyond that. We raise anyone with millions of followers to royalty status in this country. As a result companies flock to them so they can be used to hock their goods. Let’s be honest for a minute, how many followers of rappers and athletes are really buying all the stuff they flaunt? More so how many of these followers can lay out 50k+ for a watch? We are dealing with some serious pandering right now with not only Patek, but Rolex to a degree as well to capture a small group (relatively speaking) of buyers.

The new generation of wealth from social media has no respect for the brand. They just want the most expensive item featured in a video or on a celebrity.

Because the Middle East is a perfect picture, correct? It is easy to criticize when you turn a blind eye to the problems closest to you?

What does the Middle East have to do with his post about China? Nothing. The guy gets paid billions with a B from a company that is documented for using child labor in China paying pennies a day. Fact. Of course he doesn’t care about that “ social injustice” that he loves to tweet about.

I am horrible sorry for you if you thinking championships and gold medals make you a winner and good human being. Sad. My standards for being a winner and good human have zero to do with those two things, ZERO.
