The pepsi calls a lot of attention... I actually feel more comfortable wearing the LN for everyday.

Batgirl for me. The black and blue look so good on that watch. The red of the new BLRO looks more purplish than red.

I'm still in shock that there was a Pepsi in the display case.

I would choose BLRO over BLNR in any configuration

However I would set your expectations to the long end of wait expectations

I'm sure it was just "exhibition only" piece

Both are very nice and highly in demand. The blro has the iconic colors.

It was not for sale, as someone else correctly noted it was one of the exhibition pieces so the case didn't look empty and you can get a feel for the look and size of the piece.

I was leaning heavily toward batgirl until I saw the pepsi in the case at my AD. Curious what others preferences are between the two. Thanks!
OP, to the purists, the BLRO is the one to get. The BLNR definitely has its own loyal following as well. That's what I wanted, asked for, and received from my AD. Both are great pieces and it's really up to your preference ... as well as availability.

Being allocation pieces, if you are seriously in the running from your AD, you should just ask your SA for estimated wait time. Good luck.

I own both and love them equally. The current version of the BLRO bezel looks beautiful and obviously NOT clown like. The BLNR is very versatile and understated, where as the BLRO colors is much bolder. I like the BLRO for its rich history and legacy as the first GMT
by Rolex. You won’t go wrong with either watches, get both if they are offered to you. I believe this is a MK III bezel of the BLRO. Cheers!

Batgirl vs Pepsi

I’m a Pepsi guy.

The BLNR looks too cutoff to me with half the bezel matching the dial color.

That said, I wouldn’t kick a BLNR out of bed for eating crackers.

I think there’s something cool about the Batgirl being half colored and looking half finished.

Like the Pepsi looks like a striped 2 tone shirt. People just look at it and go oh okay it’s two colors to be colorful.

You look at the Batgirl and it’s like oh it’s only half colored. Why is that? There’s something deeper there. It looks intentional and for a purpose other than just being 2 bright colors just for the sake of being colorful.

There’s intrigued with the Batgirl, and an interesting backstory to boot. The Pepsi is just like a loud bright toy. It happens to be one of the original color schemes of the first Rolex GMT watches but I think it’s not as classy ironically.

The Batman is black and blue. It’s dark and sad and mysterious with a story and a purpose. The Pepsi is like the Riddler, he’s loud and has a lot of question marks all over his outfit so he’s a wild and crazy guy.

Funny thing is I love the Milgauss and it’s totally zany and bright. But it feels more genuine in its self indulgence and fun. The Pepsi is just red and blue. It’s the villain with question marks all over it’s costume so you know as the reader he’s the bad guy that does riddles and stuff. It’s handed to you on a platter for a child’s consumption.

Lil insight into my watch design philosophy. :p

I can't stand if GMT hand is not set properly on my BLNR. Is it me or anyone else feel that way?

To GMT?

I’d have mine set to GMT also just because I’m an Anglophile and like the idea of my GMT hand set to GMT.

Admittedly I’d never use the bezel

Compared to the 16710 BLRO the 126710 BLRO isnt a classic, isnt an icon, isnt bright its just a watch Rolex tries now for 4 Years to make a blue and red bezel out of ceramic but is failing in that from MK 1 to today!

I'm not a fan of the BLNR although I must say that when I got to try one on it looked really good. Much better than I thought it would. I was surprised by how much I liked it but I passed. I asked for a BLRO and I got mine 15 months later. In the UK, I would say that 15 months through an AD is average to good going.

I would have taken a pink and purple one on Jubilee but as luck would have it, my inability to get on an AD list until 2020 ended up securing me a beautiful example, on Oyster with a bezel insert which is the best rendition of red/blue I've seen so far on a ceramic.

There's always going to be some red bleeding through the blue because the blue dye is laid over an all red bezel insert. It shows more in some light. Same with the CHNR, where the brown can bleed into the black. In the case of the CHNR this makes for some interesting hues and transitions.

Short answer - in my case the BLRO wins by a mile. But I can't tell you what you like. You can't go wrong either way.

I prefer the BLNR by a lot. I do like the Pepsi though too, can’t deny it.

I was told by a local AD that I have a shot at getting one this year. I’ll take whatever they offer me (Pepsi or Batman) but it has to be on the Jubilee bracelet.

My understanding was that's backwards. They were able to make blue bezels no problem but red laying on it has always come out purple. So they made a blue bezel with a black overlay for the BLNR which looks blue and black because the blue doesn't bleed through.

For the BLRO they have a blue bezel with a red overlay which looks purple because the blue bleeds through a bit.

Seems like they'd just make the bezels a little deeper, do a layer of blue, a half layer of white then another of red and just sort of figure it out. Rolex has a funny way of cutting corners and kinda half assing things and people kinda shrug and go, whatev forev.

By BLRO's bezel is all red and half blue.

I've seen a photo in here of a close up side on view which shows an all red base with half a blue layer on top of it. Hopefully someone will dig that out if they read this.

Both are very excellent versions of the same watch. I think you should get whichever looks better to your eye and whichever fits in your collection better.

I personally love red and the overall deep colours of the modern BLRO, and it fit into my collection slightly better. I felt the BLRO was a better companion to my sub as it just felt a bit more different.

It's a tough decision for sure, but I don't think you can go wrong either way. I would be skeptical of anyone who bashes one and lifts the other as there may be more going on in those cases.

Okay maybe they start with a black bezel and layer on blue for the BLNR

It is pretty odd that they can't just make a half blue half red ceramic insert. Or that it's so difficult and cost prohibitive they won't do it for a $10k watch. I guess it's one of those things that seems easy but in fact is very difficult.

You accidentally put the root beer in the middle in both your picture and your writing.
