16710 GMT Master II. The most versatile Rolex ever?

Love this thread. So many great pictures. The 16710 coke was my first gmt and I love this watch. It wears well and it has a great presence. I am even tempted to change the bezel by adding a Pepsi one but I am happy with it as is.

Well said!! Been wearing mine a lot more often since adding the jubilee! Pepsi bezel is the next move!

Got my 16710 in 2004 for $3000 but in 2017, I had to sell due to personal issues. $7000.
in 2022, I was able to purchase a 126710BLRO at retail. Although I love it, it's no substitute for my original 16710. I cannot justify buying a circa-2004 16710 at today's prices.

Since. getting the watch I have added an all black bezel insert, and red & black insert and a brand new old stock jubilee 62510H with the GMT correct 502T end links. Along with an Oysterflex and a hand made leather strap and a couple of NATO's this must now be the most versatile watch ever. So many variations and combinations for any occasion. I really am struggling to justify having any other watch. I'll leave you with some photos.

Love the reference, however I saw a video on YouTube that the lack of easy link type feature makes it hard to size correctly. I do find myself using easy link on my Explorer I frequently during the summer. Is this really an issue or not? Appreciate the input.

I have a "P" 16710 from 2000. There is no doubt that it is the most versatile Rolex ever.
3 bezel color options, oyster or jubilee. Rolex will never make this mistake again.
3 watches in one.
Rolex would rather you buy 3 watches!

Never had a problem with sizing of my 5 digit gmt or explorer II. Maybe my wrists don’t expand and contract as much as others during the day, but it’s easy to find the perfect sizing with the tiny mirco adjustments on the buckle. Once set I’ve never changed it in the 20 years of owning my explorer II.

I hadn’t realised Rolex had an easy link adjustment feature until I picked up my Airking this year. I find that much harder to get comfortable with as I feel the perfect sizing is actually in between the gap offered by the easy link adjustment. I think the weight of the watch and overall bulk plays to it as well. I haven’t compared weights, but my feel is the GMT is a lighter watch compared to the airking (and thinner) so doesn’t move around as much.

Another great option is 97200 bracelet from ceramic Sub. It's fully compatible with 16710. That way you're getting Glidelock.

16710 is a great watch. I own 16710 Z serial on oyster but also got from AD recently jubilee bracelet
I have a black and red/black insert and am hunting for blro insert
With possibility of permutation of 6 watches in 1, this surely makes it a very versatile watch.
Not to mention classic sizes makes it very easy and comfortable to wear.
Definitely one of my favorite watches in my collection
