You will wear the steel more often than the gold if it's full metal bracelet. I would go with steel and work your way up. It is magical to wear a full gold bracelet RO. I have yet to find another watch that is on par with that.

If its your first go for the steel with bracelet (APs bracelets are the best in the business). For your second purchase a gold on a rubber strap is perfection for the summer (my rose gold chrono on blue rubber strap is going to enjoy a holiday to Ibiza next week!)

Whatever you choose, it’s a lovely problem to have. AP RO’s are just superb full stop!

I’d love to have a full gold bracelet one day. When I’ve tried them on I’ve been blown away. Normally I wouldn’t be a fan of a leather strap, but I’ve tried them on as well and have to say they are equally as stunning.

You just can’t lose :-)

Totally agree that the integrated AP bracelet is immense but if it’s already part of your collection it’s nice to mix it up with another strap option, be that Alligator or Rubber for example.

Much as I love my all Gold watches (Rose and White Gold) I struggle to find places I’m comfortable wearing them (more Rose of course) out and about. Probably overthinking it but there you go.

Cannot fault AP’s Pink gold as it’s just beautiful.

Fantastic news being offered a watch and even better news you been offered two.
Can I ask if you are already a AP client and how long you waited for and did you have to do any strange hand shake to be selected thanks

Boutique offered RO Chronograph 26240 instead of RO 15500

Thanks for all your messages earlier and sharing your thoughts on RO 15500 Steel vs. Gold. When I said no to Gold 15500, the boutique offered RO Chronograph 26240 in white dial and said this is what they can offer for now. If I only and really want RO 15500 Steel, it'll be a wait of 3 months or so.

What are your thoughts on 26240 White? I have a few chronographs (RO Offshore, Vacheron Overseas, Daytona) and whilst I don't mind having an AP RO Chronograph, my first choice still is 15500. However, I am not sure how long the wait will be for it if i say no to ROC.

I have never seen white dial RO or ROC in real.

Yes, I currently own a Royal Oak Offshore, which I bought in August 2021. I put my request for RO Perpetual Calendar in 2021, but I am told they can't offer me that one, and maybe when I go through another purchase cycle I can request that one.

I’ve a white dial RO and it’s stunning. I’ve tried on the white dial chrono and that’s stunning too.

You cannot go wrong with either of those white dials :-)

I love the chrono personally - I have the white dial chrono and find myself wearing it much more than my black dial 15400. If your mind is really set on a 3-hander though, it would be better to wait the 3 months (or however long), rather than settling for the chrono and still wanting the 3-hander in the back of your mind!

Gareth has linked to a thread above with some good pictures of white 26240’s; here’s mine from a couple of weeks ago out in the sun:

Buy what you like. Three months in the grand scheme of things isn’t much.

Also, the 15500 is discontinued, and is now replaced with the 15510

And they’re silver dials, not white.

I have rg on leather and stainless chrono bracelet.
That’s a tough one, I really don’t know which one I’d rather have.
The rose gold on black leather is so nice, it’s very elegant.
The stainless chrono is a lot more sporty, less formal.
Depends how you plan to wear it.
Happen to be wearing the chrono today..

Obviously…no one can choose but you. I vote close your eyes and based on your lifestyle….which one do you see yourself wearing the most? Choose that one.

For me, if you have a ROO, the choice is much simpler. Take the rose gold and order the bracelet.

Man…I want a 41mm RG blue dial with bracelet. I’d wear the hell out of it!

Been said several times already but I feel the RO is best on the bracelet. It's a big part of what makes the watch special.

Congrats! Way to stick to what you wanted. And happy it paid off for you. Out of curiosity, what was your purchase history?

You’ve done incredibly well here. What’s your buying history with AP here in the Uk please?

I lived in Switzerland for a couple of years, and I bought an ROO from the boutique in 2021 (my first AP ever) from them. At that point I asked them if they can get me an RO perpetual calendar, and 2 months back they came back saying they can try for an RO for me but not a QP, which could be my next one (next year)

Nice! Switzerland is a beautiful country. A perpetual calendar calendar as your third piece would be amazing

Congratulations!

I picked up a steel Royal oak blue dial but the full rose gold 15510 is on my want list.

I would sell my steel for a rose gold in a heart beat since I wear my watch for occasions and who wouldn’t want the heavy hitter of the 2 when you do

I collected my 15510 Steel Blue Dial today and whilst at the boutique I saw a couple of Rose Gold pieces - they look absolutely stunning. I know not many people like it, but I loved the full Rose Gold (with bracelet) 15510 in black dial.

Maybe next year...
