Yeah a lot of people love diamonds on the bezel too. It would just be nice to have a choice with or without.

Really not my cup of tea. This IMO looks super cheap. I am sure the finish is superb as always but it's about as close to a $20 plastic watch as you can get...

Yes unfortunately definitely looks like a plastic toy watch

I did like the PC in white ceramic - black is better but still a nice summer watch

Yeah, this is a crappy phone shot from IG. The real thing likely looks leagues better. I think the details are difficult to deliver on white ceramic though.

+1 I agree that in these types of pics (and from distance) it will look like plastic toy. But close up, or on wrist it’s a different story, similar to the PC piece. What is it about black ceramic that makes it look any less cheap?? Is it the striations/brushing on case? Naturally this isn’t as evident on white from afar. But it’s still a ceramic AP at end of day. I wonder if this was offered in 39 or 41mm how many people would go for the white ceramic
That would be so mean if AP made such a release instead of cutting to the chase with black ceramic.

the problem with white ceramic, the finishing details are lost in the bright white color, so that's why it looks more plastic, while the black one, the shimmer and brush finish contrasts from the dark color and gives the black diamond effect.

Price is quite reasonable as far as these things go.

I have been trying to figure out AP pricing but I gave up at some point.
The 34mm in both black or white ceramic (not CB dial) has the biggest premium over the SS variant - 109%
As a comparison ROC is 103%, ROO Beast - 84% and the DBW just 32%.
At least with the latest changes they equalized the prices of PM and Ceramic variants across the product range, except for the Beast.

That’s one thing I don’t get: why pay the same money for a PM vs Ceramic, that you could drop and break the minute you walk out of the boutique.

Have you seen a full ceramic RO in person? There’s a certain quality to the finishing and glimmer + relatively scratch resistance + labor for finishing it that ups the price. PM pieces look great to but are prone to tarnish and scratching.

Do you drop your watches on the ground on a regular basis? I’d recommend quartz watches if that’s the case

Catastrophic failure is what the coverage service is for, I guess. Gold on the other hand will scratch from looking at it...

It makes a bit more sense if you look at it as a difference, not a ratio. Beast and ROC are both about +$40k for going to CE chrono case and bracelet. 34mm RO and DBW are $28k/23k for going to CE time-only case and bracelet. I guess for the blue CE QP the difference was larger (+50k in 2021?), but that's a pretty special piece.

On the ROO side, it's +$12/13k for a CE time-only case (Music Edition) and +$18k for a chrono case (43mm).

The price of CE is quite high compared with PM but the level of finishing on CE is amazing.
Owning couple ROO ceramic bezel pieces and love that they never get scratched in opposition to gold. Won't hesitate to get one if I have a chance over PM.

We may not drop the watch on a daily basis, so wearing it with care would be the best help like other fine watches or G-Shock for an adventurous day

A few of these variations have a ceramic bracelet too, while others do not. If I remember right, I think they said the ceramic bracelet takes 30hrs to finish, vs. a regular RO taking 8 hrs.

Personally, I have both a SS 34mm and black ceramic 34mm. For me, the ceramic finishing was really about something i could casually wear that was a little more under the radar than the more flashy metal (even steel, the glimmer is a bit flashy in comparison). The fact that it doesn’t show a scratch is a great bonus, though personally I don’t go out of my way to baby my watches either. Sure, a PM model is not far away in price, but I swap pretty equally between my steel and ceramic and I’m not sure I’d say the same for a PM piece unless it were on leather.

Side-question — has anyone seen any shots of the new 37 offshores aside from AP’s marketing shots on the website? I’ve seen a few white ceramic photos here and elsewhere. Would love to see a better view of what the new 37’s look like, but no luck so far.

Fashion influencer Tamara Kalinic has posted some pics, including the Rainbow, from the AP afterparty in Montreux, on her instagram.
