For sheer simplicity and clarity I love the Explorer dial. No fluff, no sparkle, no gilding the lily.

Admittedly, my favourite is my slightly unusual 1990/91 14270 ‘Blackout’ dial where the numbers were filled with black enamel, and the print was silver gilt (just a little gilding of the lily):

Modern….glacier blue dial for the platinum Day Date and vintage…the stone dialed day dates. Third place is a COMEX dial.
