I have the same feeling as many here... I like the look, but wouldn't do it as I know it's not "factory". I am not one for watch modification - but each to their own.

I'd wear it if was all Rolex parts and not aftermarket ... Would also love to swap a Hulk Bezel on a Black Sub to make a Ceramic Kermit ...

Takeaways from comments:

1. Some don’t know what a frankenwatch is.
2. Many here are married to, or dating, a natural blonde or never been botoxed partner.

Lighten up people, it’s just a watch.

I thought about doing the same thing for about 5 minutes while I was contemplating buying mine. At the end of the day like someone else said, I just wouldn't feel good about wearing something that wasn't the real deal. I wouldn't ever scoff at anyone else that wore a frankenwatch (some of them look super cool), but for me personally, my watches need to be OG

I would only consider it if the bezel insert & dial were oem rolex parts.

The bezel & dial from a smurfs bring crazy money last time I saw a pair for sale on here.

I would not wear this watch knowing that it’s a Frankenwatch. If your clints goal is to achieve the look then more power to him.

Wearing a PM piece is a personal choice.
In my opinion, wearing one is for personal satisfaction first and foremost. It should not be to impress Or satisfy the “common person” to think that you are wearing a gold watch.
Of course this is just me. YMMV.
Peace!

It's his watch to do what he wants with it. That being said, I wouldn't be able to live with a watch that I knew was "posing" as something else. I'd rather just keep saving for an actual Smurf, as I currently am.

To the gentleman who said "Tudor is a sad compromise" and advised to get a Seiko... What a silly thing to say. Tudor makes fine watches, as does Seiko. Sure, they aren't in the same price bracket as a WG Sub, but no reason to sh!t on 'em.

Could never look down at my wrist and feel good about it, always would feel I was faking it. Would rather rock a LN while saving for a Smurf than cut corners. Just my personal opinion

The idea, (while hardly original) and the execution is interesting. The result looks great as well. Sunray dial is my preference, but that's subjective. It's a neat one-off to satisfy a client so on that level, it's a success.

However, I've always disliked mods to Rolex watches because I feel they're great right from the factory. IMO.

The major issue for me is by using 3rd party parts, the entire watch is compromised. It lacks the 'bullet-proof' integrity of a factory assembled watch. Maybe, MAYBE the replacement parts are solid, but their lack of provenance (hate to use that word here) would weigh on my mind everytime I looked at it.

Definitely not for me, but that's irrelevant: the owner of the watch is happy and isn't that all that really matters?
Mark

Not to mention Rolex would refuse to service it unless it was put back to it's original state. Of course you could go independent but again I prefer my watches to be serviced by the manufacturer and get an official service card.

I would not wear it.

To me he is basically trying deceive by passing off SS as white gold. It’s pretty much the same as wearing a fake to me.

Each to their own though, if he is comfortable wearing it.

Even though I've owned virtually all of the Rolex models at one time or another, I now wear my 16610 LN 24/7 and pride myself on being a "common person."
