That is a beauty, Larry. Wonder what kind of a price it would fetch on a resale? Not many guys out there who would be too eager to invest that much on a solid gold quartz!

Yes I believe you are correct. JM says Daytona, but then he says the movement was a Valjoux 72, which would probably make it a pre Daytona (I don't know a lot of Daytona history, but I would expect the Daytona had a Rolex movement).

Correction. I guess it would've had a Zenith movement!

Oh I just rememberd that the Daytona had the Zenith movement. Anyway, the Valjoux 72 would've preceeded it.

I think that just the fact that it is so rare would help command a very nice price for it. Not sure, but that is MHO.

You could be right, Daren....but I assure there aren't too many Rolex lovers out there who would spend so much on YG, more so on a quartz. Most fellas who would be willing to part with that kind of money, would prefer an automatic.

Most "Rolex lovers" aren't WIS, so the automatic isn't their first priority. Besides that is not a "normal" watch. That one would have collectors swarming it, I am sure of that.

I would tend to agree with you, Daren. A YG OQ is a rarity. Collectors would likely be very interested in something like that.

It would be interesting to know what the FINAL price on that YG OQ would be? But say if it sells for the price of a brand new TT Sub or a TT YM, then sorry guys, I'd opt for the TT mechanical model.

My guess is that a YG OQ would fetch, in Canadian dollars, around $7000-10,000. Currently, pre-owned YG DDs are going for $10-13,000 at auction. While some collectors would go for a YG OQ, if it went up at a regular jewellry auction, I cant see it getting much more than $10K.

So my guess wasn't too far off.....CD$10K would be pretty close to the price of a new TT YM....in that case, I would definitely opt for the mechanical Rolex.
