I always liked the Kermit. The Hulk is just too big and I'm not a fan of the ceramic bezel or sunburst dial. That's my personal opinion..

My D series above doesn’t either. I bought it in September 2005.

Kermit or Hulk

This originally felt like a just a 5dig vs 6dig thread with different nicknames... on second thought, it is much a much more though provocative question. So first off, great post (I think so at least)!!

I want to argue the Kermit is the best “modern” Rolex ever made. It has the classic proportions along with the maxi dial. Though subtle, is IMO a much better use of dial space. The bezel can easily be swapped with black or green depending on ones mood, outfit, etc. and it has a far greater collectible significance.

On the other hand, the hulk as all the known improvements which makes it a worthy competitor to any modern dive watch on the planet. For those that haven’t seen the hulk in person, it is much more subtle than in some pics and when it’s not (when the light hits it right) the bezel and sunburst dial are such a treat as they are simply amazing !

Personally, I’d take a Kermit over hulk but oddly enough, I 100% prefer 126710blro and 116610ln over their 5dig counterparts.

Both are amazing pieces and in their own leagues
I love the history and heritage of the kermit but like the modern rugged look/feel of the hulk
For me, the hulk gets my vote as I love the homogeneous look

i'd rather own kermit over hulk - all things being equal

I just like the green color, black dial, and slimmer case of the kermit

Just as a matter of personal preference neither do much for me but I would choose the Kermit if given the choice.

In this case the hulk is a clear winner for me, never bonded with Kermit

I made my peace with Hulk. To me, it's more appealing. Kermit feels like regular Sub with Green bezel.

Not buying any of them. The sub for me is my 16610 and comes in black. If I was to choose, the Kermit. I can’t get on board with the kelly green pastel of the hulk. Plus no giant lugs.

Owning both - but the "Kermit" 16610LV for the maxi dial, comfortable and well proven bracelet/clasp, aluminium insert for personality, elegant lugs and a movement proven more than capable for many, many years.

The fat lugs is not so noticable when the sun hits the dial, tho.

hulk any day of the week, kermit case is to small, bracelet and clasp is dainty and feels light, and aluminum bezel insert looks terrible as soon as you scratch it a couple times. The new references are more durable, and look much more current (coming from an owner of a 16710 z serial and plenty of new modern Rolex)
