The FF is a beauty, but everyone should have a sub!

Not totally sure how the FF wears but 45 is big. I just sold off a 45 Zenith and after wearing the 2 back to back the 40 & 42 Rolex's wear much more comfortable. Now the Bathyscape is my next piece.

Sub.
BP is a bit too big and tall for a one and only, and I hate that engraving on the case.
Great piece though, and if it didn't have the engraving, I'd own one.

If the FF was a 40-41mm watch then I'd be all over it like a fat kid on a jelly bean....but it's not. Sub for me, please.

I'd get a FF only because I've owned a sub before. I am also considering a FF for a Monday thru Thursday watch when I get back in the normal attire of a suit and tie when I come home, but my only concern is I hear the service cost is twice that of a Rolex. I'm just a normal working class guy who rides a bike and drives a Ford.

Not so - they are about the same (unless you have a complicated model)

On that note, I'd definitely get a FF but I'd still pick up a sub at some point. Maybe a vintage no date.

That is the problem, you will need a Sub no matter what. And then it's really hard to justify another Diver. No way out, unless you succeed convincing yourself that is ok to have 2 divers.

Cheers !!!

I'm with Howie here, TTAL FF is the way to go, but as much as I appreciate the DNA for the FF, I think Swatch Group messed it up and made the current version a bit too big and thick. A true re-edition of the older one, at 40-42mm would have been more appealing IMO.

I visited the AD here in Dubai yesterday and saw the watch for the first time. I definitely love the design of the case, in particular the saphire bezel, and I love the canvas strap, but I just can't feel comfortable with the size. I hope BP launches a 42mm version at one point.

The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscape is a great option in a "svelte" 43mm size!

My vote is sub. I think the sub will hold its value a little better in case you flip it later

I'd choose the BP FF Aqualung, assuming I have a Rolex already(every should have a Rolex diver in their collection). They are in different price ranges by a lot unless you get a healthy discount or buy preowned. I've also heard of small issues with the movement and that BP customer service isn't that great. Maybe some owners can chime in on the movement and it's reliability.
The BP is a stunner in person.

Well they actually do have one in that size range, or is it 42mm, can't remember. It is a special edition and it has the radioactive circle on the dial(iirc) like the older models.
Have you tried it on, it felt smaller to me than it's 44mm size suggest. I didn't do a comparison but I was surprised by the size difference in Mike's pictures because it surely didn't feel that significant on my wrist.

Well there's something for you too. The BP FF Aqualung is all brushed surfaces and it's quite the looker, but a little harder to find as this also was a limited issue.

I had a FF and after 1 year and some months... bezel was broken. You can turn it both directions. I've sent it to Blancpain and they repaired it for free cause was under warranty. I was investigating and some people had the same problem with the bezel. I decided to sell it and not buy it again. I really like it, but I'm afraid about the bezel problem.

I'm guessing this was some time ago?
There were reports of bezels becoming loose a few years ago, but it was a very quick (& free) fix. I never experienced it myself.

I've had several FF and never a bezel problem. A couple chronos had resetting issues that they fixed.

Yes, was long time ago. I think was 2010.

I really, really like this watch! I love it. But the problem with the bezel... I decided to sell it. If you are telling me that now everything is ok with the bezel, I have a serious problem! I may want one... hehehe.

Some photos of my ex - FF

I've found Blancpain service to be excellent, but I can't speak for every country.
The FF 50th Anniversary model was 40 mm (actually 41 I believe) but this has long since sold out and now commands a very high price on the rare occasion one comes up for sale.
All of the current FFs are 45 mm but wear much smaller - really something you need to try for yourself. The Bathyscaphe (also part of the FF family) is 43 mm.
Imho the FF Tribute to Aqua Lung is the nicest of all. This was limited to 500 pieces, although I did spot one in a Geneva dealer's window display earlier in the year.

^ See? Beautiful.

The bezel fix is quick and cheap anyway, as stated by Clive.

You just need to write in Google, Blancpain Fifty Fathoms bezel problems and you'll find some threads talking about this issue.

For example :
