Its a company that still has no way to turn users into money on the scale the cost is suggesting, same problem faced by ever so many dotcom era startups, or if you want a more recent example within our very own field of watch forums, when the owner of watchtalkforums squeezed his userbase, demanding membership fees for PM usage and avatars in the leadup to selling it, the users all fled and the forum is now dead.

If facebook does some day have to turn a profit relative to their valuation, the pressure they'd have to put on users would drive them away in protest, there's just no way around that.

Barely at $38.

I want nothing to do with either being a member of FB or it's stock. I see people labouriously checking their FB page all day and I just think.... why?

Life can be simple. Why complicate it with how many "friends" you have.

My real friends know what I am up to.

I would recommend buying FB after it posts it's first earnings as a public company. Same follows suit for any ipo company. At this time, with the market down, I would look at other stocks that have been beaten down lately, like XOM, CAT, GS. Remember folks, cash is king.

well, i am trying to get filled... just to gamble. and my order is pending. can't modify or cxl.

important message from scottrade (this is talked about on the live blog)

Facebook (FB) Orders and Delayed Reports

NASDAQ has reported an issue in which execution reports are delayed for Facebook (FB) orders. This is an industry-wide issue. Scottrade is processing executions back to clients as they are received. Thank you for your patience.

being in limbo stinks....

1:05 p.m.

NASDAQ ON THE DELAY

Seconds before noon, with demand for Facebook stock overwhelming, Nasdaq issued a message on one of its websites saying that it was "investigating an issue in delivering trade execution messages" from the Facebook IPO.

Nasdaq initially planned the first trades of Facebook stock for 11 a.m., then 11:05 a.m. The stock opened at about 11:30.

Facebook is trading at about $41, or $3 higher than its offering price. Volume is approaching 320 million shares traded.

— Tali Arbel, AP Business Writer

lol i don't know if i own shares or not....
