Daytona vs Omega moon watch

I know it’s sucks for new collectors who can’t get one but kudos to Omega for sticking close to the original design and making them available.

+1 speedy did nothing for me either. I feel like the case sits a bit bulky on my wrist and I’m not a fan of the bracelet and clasp.

For a non-Daytona chrono I prefer the Zenith El Primero

Daytona steel
is a bore and I have one! I sold
my speedy and regret.
Now an all gold Daytona , that something else!

so it depends on each personal taste

Speedmaster hate the shoulders hate the bracelet

Daytona hate the busy dial.

Tudor 79260 the watch they should’ve been.

I can't handle how feminine the Daytona is @ 38.5mm and poor legibility. I ditched my 116520 for an AP.

Speedy Pro is THE chronograph imo.

Daytona is a unisex (or maybe like a feminine size?- not meant to be negative) choice and that is a plus for couples over a speedy for sure. The size is either a plus or minus depending on personal factors. Speedy is a little larger.

Daytona would be my choice. But in PM.

Owned a Speedmaster reduced. Only had a SpeedMaster because I was new in the hobby and every source I read told me I needed one in my collection. I hardly wore it.

I gifted it to my best man at my wedding. He wears it everytime we meet up.

I'd take the Speedmaster over the Daytona, any day of the week.

I own both, and prefer the Daytona by a fair margin. Wears better on my wrist, can swim with it, and feels more durable.

With that said, I also love the moonwatch and it will never leave my collection.

Daytona hands down. However, a collection isn’t complete without a speedy

Can’t say because I’ve never owned a Daytona but I will say I absolutely love the new 3861 speedmaster.

Dude, I need to know where you got that strap. The best leather I have ever seen on a Speedy

It is an Omega strap for deployant that I purchased here awhile back and seem to be pretty rare. I don’t even know which omega they were originally sold on.

You are asking this question in Rolex forum so naturally most votes will be for Daytona. Personally I like Moonwatch but I would also buy Daytona from the investment point of view.

I’m not so sure about this. On TRF, I think for every guy out there with a Daytona, there are about 15 of us with a Speedmaster. That’s not scientific at all. Just a guess, but I suspect a good guess. The Speedmaster always gets a lot of love on TRF.

Not quite a safe queen, it’s in the watch box ready to be sized but haven’t felt the need to wear it yet, which is very different to the other watches which i wore from day 1. I will wear it one day

Totally unfair comparison. These type of threads pop up every once in a while, it’s basically fishing for confirmation bias for those who own the Omega. It is what it is.

They’re both watches, chronos from similar brands. If you love watches and chronos both are a must.

I am completely indifferent to the Daytona. I love my Speedmaster and find it easier to read than a Daytona. I think I paid about $3600 for it new about five years ago and its value greatly exceeds its price. If I could find a Daytona at retail I wouldn’t buy it, I’ve got the chronograph I want.

I can't afford the Daytona at grey prices so the Speedmaster is my best alternative
