I was never a fan until I finally got one... Needless to say its one of my fav watches now. Aside from having a beautiful design it is by far the most comfortable Rolex!

Fantastic watch. Very happy with mine...

I do have one complaint: the legibility of the subdials is very much subject to lighting conditions. Overcast? Perfect? Bright sunlight, good luck trying to quickly and precisely read how much time has elapsed.

It's a dress watch with a chronograph. If I had serious timing to do(and was going to use a mechanical watch), I'd use my Breitling Navitimer or Omega Speedmaster Professional.

That aside, the watch is a pleasure to wear.

If you love it, buy it. They're not getting any cheaper...

Ok, you asked for it. The Daytona: It doesn't have a date function. SS watches shouldn't be blingy and shiny like the Daytona. It's 40mm, but wears smaller, too small. It's quickly becoming a woman's watch. The dial is cluttered and hard to read. You'll have no practical reason to use the complication. It is waaayyy too over priced.

Actually, the dayto is no more blingy than the fluted bezel rings on the subs.
Now if anyone has the zeniths for sale, pls pm me.

There's better to be had

There are better chrono's out there. I would sooner have a used Patek 5980 or Lange 1815 Chrono or AP ROO than a new Daytona.

The Daytona seems a very vanilla design compared to the alternatives.

I know more women who own Daytonas than men.

Does that help?

My AD told me in the late 70s and early 80s he could not give then away even with a discount, everyone always bought the speedmaster.

Congrats on picking up the most versatile Rolex in their collection. It goes formal to jeans smoothly and always looks the iconic part.

Could it be because the Speedy has always been almost a third of the price? And to a non WIS they may not appreciate the qualitative difference of the Daytona both then and now.

My AD said at the time he couldn't shift the Daytona the price difference between it and the speedmaster was £50.
